THINGS TO DO IN THE LAST 10
MINUTES OF THE WORKDAY
Tips, suggestions, and inspiration from GennGlobal
INTRODUCTION
By the end of the workday, you are likely feeling
tired and low on energy. For many, the last 10
minutes of any given workday are perceived as the
least productive.
However, this doesn’t have to be true. There are
several things you can do at the end of your day
that are still very productive.
Next, we will discuss some productive things that
can be done in the last 10 minutes of your workday.
UPDATE TO-DO LISTS & PLAN FOR TOMORROW
The end of the day is the perfect time to update
your to-do lists and to reflect on the work you got
done during the day.
While updating your to-do lists, you can effectively
plan for the next day, so that when you get to the
office you know exactly where to start.
This process is a very useful way to increase your
productivity during the coming days, instead of
immediately at the end of the current workday.
SEND MESSAGES OR EMAILS
The end of the day is also a great time to send
emails or other types of messages that summarize
your daily activities.
Reach out to clients or colleagues about the status of a
project or to touch base about a deadline.
Schedule meetings for the next day or for later in the
week.
Essentially, you are doing the same type of
planning as described in the last slide, except now
you are communicating your plans and progress to
other people.
ORGANISE YOUR DESK AND DESKTOP
It is important to keep a clean desktop.
Keep the digital desktop on your computer organised.
Keep the physical space upon which you work neat.
If you have a dirty or cluttered workspace, the
chaotic debris can impede your progress.
Say you have misplaced a document and are trying to
retrieve it. Amid the madness of a cluttered desk, this
task becomes much larger than it would be otherwise.
Overall, a lack of organisation can only slow you
down and hurt your productivity.
SAY THANKS TO YOUR TEAM
Lastly, you can spend those last 10-15 minutes with
your coworkers.
Thank them for a job well done. This will improve
your team’s morale and allows you to forge strong
bonds with your colleagues.
Cultivating positive relationships with your
colleagues only takes a few minutes every day, and
the rewards are well worth the time spent.
