The Very Succinct Sadhana of All Illuminating Maha Vairocana that Purifies the Lower Realms

Refuge and Generating the thought for Enlightenment:

In the unsurpassed Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, I take refuge until Enlightenment is reached. Through Deeds of Giving and other Perfections, may I attain the state of Buddhahood for the sake of all sentient beings.

Self-Generation:

Om Shunyata Jana Vajra Svabhava Atmako Ham

From the state of Emptiness, on a moon disc mandala manifested from the nature of the mind;

Om Sarwa Buddha Sarwa Karma Awarana Vishodhaya Dana Hum Phat

Melts and transforms into a white five pronged Vajra standing erect, shining forth lights to benefit sentient being. ( The rays of light ) are subsequently reabsorbed and ( the Vajra) then transforms into the self-nature Bhagavan, All Illuminating Maha Vairocana, body white in colour with four white faces. Both hands are in the meditation gesture and holding a five pronged Vajra, adorned with myriad jewels, pure and without obscurations, seated in the cross vajra position upon a lotus and moon disc, ( His ) three places marked with the syllables ‘OM’, ‘AH’ and ‘HUNG’.

[ Perform the practice simultaneously with the recitation ]

Lights shine forth from one’s heart, invoking the Wisdom Deity as well as the Initiatory Deities.

Om Vajra Samajah [ Invoking Wisdom Beings similar in appearance to oneself]

Dza Hum Bam Hoh [Merging the Wisdom Beings into oneself]

The Five Dhyani Buddhas bestow Initiation which purifies all obscurations, and the Guru as Vairocana, like an ornament, adorns the top of one’s head.

Om Sarwa Tathagata Argham Padyam Pushpe Dhupe Aloke Ghande Newide Shapda Praticcha Puja Megha Samudra Sapharana Samaye Hung. [ Thus Proffer offerings ]

Wisdom of Dharmadhatu, Unstained by faults;Bhagavan Vairocana, meditating with hands in meditation mudra;I prostrate to the Bhagavan who Illuminates All. [ Thus praise]

Mantra Recitation:

At one’s heart on top of a moon disc, the mantra garland surrounds the seed syllable: ( OM ). The mantra garland whirls, blazing forth lights, purifying the negative karma and obscurations of all sentient beings.

Om Namo Bhagavate Sarva Durgati Pari Shodhane Rajaya, Tathagataya, Arhate Samyak-Sambuddhaya, Tadyatha,

Om Shodhane Shodhane, Sarve Papam Vishodhane Shuddhe Vishuddhe, Sarva Karma Awarana Vishodhane Svaha.

Dedication:

Through these merits may I swiftly attain to the resultant state of Vairocana. May all beings without exception, be reborn in His Pure Land.

May the precious Bodhi-Mind,Not yet born, arise and grow;May that born have no decline,But increase forever more.

This sadhana mainly purifies obscurations and among its other benefits, of which the most praise-worthy, is the purification of karmic obscurations of the deceased.
