Cit izens on patrol
What is the COP Program?
The COP Program is a roving Neighborhood Watch which works with Patrol Officers to watch for and report suspicious activities. Citizens on Patrol perform house checks, assist with traffic control and assist with special events. The COP’s are not police officers.
Training Program
Training for COP’s includes but is not limited to:• Classroom and Ride-along training• WSPD Organization• Radio Communication• Computer reporting and dispatch• Applicable Laws• General Orders and Procedures
Flexible Schedules are available and only a minimum of 12 hours per month is required. All necessary equipment and uniforms will be provided.

Winter springs police SHIELD 360
The Winter Springs Police innovation SHIELD 360 is now available for our citizens. The SHIELD 360 program will send officers to your home at your request to evaluate your potential risk to crime and ways to prevent crime. This is called a Residential Crime Prevention Survey. Upon completion of your survey, you will be provided with a list of suggestions to reduce your vulnerability to crime. The service is also available to Winter Springs business and is called the Commercial Crime Prevention Survey.
Residents participating in the program will receive a lawn placard much like you would see from an alarm company. Display your placard in your front yard to show your community you are taking an active role in crime prevention. Businesses will receive a window decal for your business to show your customers you are reducing risk to your business. Be it business or residential, book your survey soon. Are you interested in a career in Criminal Justice? Are you between the ages of 14 and 21? Do you enjoy problem solving, being personally challenged and succeeding in a team environment?
The Winter Springs Police Department would like to extend an invitation to all those who meet the above criteria to join us as a Winter Springs Police Explorer. Police Explorers are sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America Learning for Life program and give young men and women the opportunity to shadow police officers during their duties. Police Explorers can earn volunteer or community service hours as required by high school programs. Exploring will introduce you to the role of law enforcement in our community, the duties performed therein and the skills necessary to be successful in any career. Duties of an Explorer include attending bi-monthly meetings and training, working along with law enforcement during special events and community activities and setting an example for fellow students through community involvement.

City of Winter Springs Street Resurfacing Project Update January 2018
The following streets are scheduled to be milled and resurfaced starting in January 2018:
o Sherry Avenue o Wade Street o Mockingbird Lane o S. Hawthorne Circle o Bear Creek Court o Wood Duck Drive o White Cloud Court o Northern Way (Winter Springs Blvd to 1217 Northern Way) o Northern Way (Vistawilla Drive to Tuscora Drive)
The milling and resurfacing work will be performed by The Middlesex Corporation, under contract with the City. Work will start in late January 2018 and will be completed in February 2018. City Staff will provide paving notices to residents in the immediate vicinity of the resurfacing work several days before work begins.
