Smedley Butler was born July 30,1881, in West Ches-ter, Pennsylvania, the eldest ofthree sons. His parents ThomasStalker Butler and Maud

(Darlington) Butler were descendedfrom Quaker families. His fatherwas a lawyer, a judge, and for31 years, a Congressman and chairof the House Naval AffairsCommittee during the Har-ding and Coolidge administrations.

Smedley Butler was one of the mosthighly decorated soldiers to everserve in the military. He is still, tothis day, one of only a handful ofmen to ever receive the Congres-sional Medal of Honor, Twice.Decorated for his leadership andbravery in such conflicts as, Philip-

pineAmerican War, where heserved in Manila. In October, 1899he saw his first combat action whenleading 300 Marines to take thetown of Noveleta, against Philippinorebels known as Insurrectos. In

the initial moments of the engage-ment, the top sergeant in Butler'sunit was wounded. Butler panicked,

For this and other notori-ous demonstrations of bravery,Butler was awarded the BrevetMedalwhich is awarded in accord-ance with Marine Corps Order No.26 (1921), for distinguished conductand public service in the presenceof the enemy. Back in 2008 there was a closed door and media

blacked out session of congress. This has onlyhappened five other times 182 years. The reasonfor this ultra-suspicious behavior was sketchy atbest. However, Ohio Congressmen Dennis Kucinich(who refused to participate) Was on the Webnews and political watch dog website DemocracyNow.org, and told us the reason for all the cloakand dagger antics on the part of both parties.

Essentially, Mr. Kucinich stated that it was moreto do with the passage of Foreign IntelligenceSurveillance Act than any real national securitycrisis.

It seems that the executive branch and Congres-sional leaders on both sides of the isle weretrying to quietly wrestle away the last vestiges of

civil rights that the American people were privyto. While simultaneously allowing any prescribedagency, corporation or organization deemed ap-propriate by this administration, or those thatcome after it, the power to listen in on yourcommunications and keep files, records and logsof any and all of your communications.

The amendments that are now signed into lawmake it impossible for you to seek legal recourseeven if you are innocent of any and all wrongdoing. They also allow for the companies to keep

your call logs, text messages, voice calls, emails, ect; for as long as they wish. And they may dowhat they wish with the information. Includinggain profit from it.

Before we go any further I want you to complete-ly understand what this is about. The governmentdoes not need a warrant, or even a signed state-ment against you to record and keep all of yourcommunications. And the companies that provideservice will be allowed BY LAW, to do what everthey wish with any information they record.

How long before recording all information was

standard practice? Since 2008 when this law wasactually signed, it is now an industry standard forcompanies to record and keep all of your communi-cations.

Now some of you may think that this is not hap-pening in your beloved America. Well, I thought of

you too. I have the entire catalog of ExecutiveOrders and the amendments that were pushedthrough congress in PDF format on the websitefor your perusal.

Through my research and countless other investi-gators research, it is plainly evident and proven

many times over that there is a pervasive andfascist organization, or belief system, that isbeing incrementally installed in this country. Due

to the pace of it progression and the propagandathat it has languidly administered to the citizenryit has gone unnoticed or deemed acceptable, inthe light of fear over security concerns.

America is drowning in its own apathy and the only

flotation device that they can see is the floatingpile of totalitarian, dictatorial social structurethat is thrown to the masses by mainstream mediaand the politicians who are forwarding the processpurely out of greed and cowardess.

There will soon be a day when our monetary sys-tem falls into total collapse and an electronicallycontrolled credit system will be the only meansfor acquiring goods and services. That is whenthe whole of our culture will be enslaved with out

    hope.

If citizens do not stand and recognize the tyrannyfor what it is in post haste fashion, we will surelybe rendered as nothing more than cattle to theslaughter.

...in Honduras. Since he was in the Caribbeanat the time, he used a converted banana boatre-named thepanther, and

sailed 1500 miles to the west.

Smedley then took some timebetween campaigns, to getmarried on June 30, 1905 toEthel Conway Peters of Phila-delphia in Bay Head, New Jer-sey. The couple even had timeto become parents of threechildren: a daughter, EthelPeters Butler, and two sons,Smedley Darlington, Jr. andThomas Richard.

From then on it seems Butler was havingtrouble with processing all the death anddestruction he had witnessed. In 1908 hesuffered a nervous breakdown and took nine(9) months off and worked as a coal miner.Although this may have been the case, hestill served in other conflicts. From 1909 to1912, he served in Nicaragua. In January1914 he served off the coast and hisof Mexico, near Veracruz.

In the Haitian Battle with the Cacos he wasa brilliant strategist and ended up surround-ing the opposition. The battle (often hand tohand combat) is the reason that PresidentRooseveltconferred the second Medal ofHonor he received.

Through out all his meritorious service

Smedley Butler began to realize the way hisworld worked. He began to pay attention tothe fashion in which certain men, and institu-tions, behaved as well as thought.

During World War I, to his disappointment,Butler was not assigned to a combat com-mand on the Western Front. Even though hewrote and requested it.

In October 1918, he was promoted to therank of brigadier general at the age of 37

and placed in command of Camp

Ponanezen at Brest, France, adebarkation depot that funneledtroops of the American Expedi-tionary Force to the battle-fields.

The Navy Distinguished ServiceMedal was awarded to Smedleyfor service in World War 1. Forexceptionally meritorious anddistinguished services in France.

However his Military career waswinding down, and another equally (maybemore) noble calling was on the horizon. By1933 Butler was denouncing capitalism andbankers, confessing that as a Marine general"I was a racketeer for capitalism."

Butler began developing his post-Corps ca-reer. In May 1931, he took part in a commis-sion established by Oregon Governor JuliusL. Meier. The commission laid the founda-tions for the Oregon State Police. He beganlecturing at events and conferences andafter his retirement from the Marines in1931, he took this up full-time. His donatedmuch of his earnings from his lucrative lec-ture circuits to the Philadelphia unemploy-ment relief. He toured the western UnitedStates, making 60 speeches before return-ing for his daughter's marriage to Marineaviator Lieutenant John Wehle. Her wedding

was the only time that he wore his dressblue uniform after he left the Marines.

In perhaps Smedley Butlers bravest act of

all, in early 1934, Butler alleged the exist-ence of a political conspiracy of WallStreet interests to overthrow PresidentRoosevelt, a series of allegations that cameto be known in the media as the Business

    There are only two

    things we should

    fight for. One is the

    defense of our homes

    and the other is the

Plot.In March 1934, the House of Representa-tives authorized investigations into his allega-tions by a special committee headed by John

    W. McCormackof Massachusetts and SamuelDicksteinof New York. The McCormack-Dickstein committeewas a precursor tothe House Committee on Un-American Activi-ties.

In November 1934, Butler told the committeethat a group of businessmen, claiming to bebacked by a private army of 500,000ex-soldiers and others, intended to establish afascist dictatorship. Butler had been asked tolead it, he said, by Gerald P. MacGuire, a bondsalesman with Grayson M.P Murphy & Co.The New York Times reported that Butler hadtold friends that General Hugh S. Johnson, aformer official with the National Recovery

Administration, was to be installed as dictator.Butler said MacGuire had told him the attempt-ed coup was backed by three million dollars, andthat the 500,000 men were probably to beassembled in Washington, D.C. the following

year. All the parties alleged to be involved, including Johnson, said there was no truth inthe story, calling it a joke and a fantasy. On

August 22, Butler met MacGuireat a hotel,According to Butler's account, it was on thisoccasion that MacGuire asked Butler to run anew veterans organization (The AmericanLegion) and lead a coup attempt against thePresident. On September 13, Paul Comly French,a reporter, who had once been Butler's person-al secretary, met MacGuire in his office. In late

September, Butler told Van Zandt that co-conspirators would be meeting him at anupcoming Veterans of Foreign Warsconvention. On November 20, the Committee beganexamining evidence. Journalist, Paul ComlyFrench broke the story in the PhiladelphiaRecord and New York Post on November 21. OnNovember 22, ..(Continued on page 4)

There is an extreme lack of consumer pur-chasing power in this economy. Many citizensbelieve this cannot go on much longer.

Thus, from April 15 to April 18, Ms. Quinn-Tostado is calling for a national strike thatincludes these ideas: Do not send your chil-dren to school on schooldays; do not eat at

Karen Quinn-Tostado of Oregon says she isjust an everyday lady, but she is playing a

significant role in an uncommon effort toget the American people to face their

Ms. Quinn-Tostado is calling on every willing Americanto detach from their routine and engage ina national strike from the increasinglyoppressive big business-big governmentmatrix that has snared Americans in unpay-able debt, endless toil, demolished rightsand broken dreams with no apparent solu-tion.

The New York Times wrote its first article on thestory and described it as a "gigantic hoax." Whenthe committee's final report was released, the Times said the committee "purported to re-port that a two-month investigation had convincedit that General Butler's story of a Fascist marchon Washington was alarmingly true" and "It also

alleged that definite proof had been found thatthe much publicized Fascistmarch on Washington, which was to have been led by Major. Gen. Smed-ley D. Butler, retired, according to testimony at ahearing, was actually contemplated". Even at thatpoint Butler was being portrayed in public bythose he had accused, as a foolish, conspiracytheorist. Although The New York Times had es-sentially substantiated Smedley Butlers claims,

He was labeled an angry, nut-job by his contrac-tors. Those he accused included Irne du Pont,,and J.P. Morgan, and various industrialists andpolitical wanta-bes. Butlers testimony was heardbefore congress on December 29, 1934. Regardingthe conversations that he had with Jerry Mac-Guire, Butler relayed in his testimony: They pre-

sented to me rather a confused picture, and Icould not make up my mind exactly what theywanted me to do or what their objective was, butit had something to do with weakening the influ-ence of the administration with the soldiers.

They had tried in vain to make him angry with thePresident and his staff. Telling him, he had beeninvited as a distinguished guest of the ChicagoConvention. But his name been taken off the listby Louis Howe, (Secretary to the President.) Thiswas just a ruse to get him to capitulate to theplan. In Smeldey Butlers testimony he certainlygave enough detail to warrant a congressionalinvestigation. Especially since it concerned thevery Presidency of the United States. However,

that was not the outcome. It is important to notethis statement by Macguire for its revealingnature regarding the financing of The UnitedStates. (How we get our money, at this point is bythe banking industry (Federal Reserve) lending itto us at instant interest, meaning instant andforever, DEPT!) The statement goes like this: He

has got to do something about it. He has eithergot to get more money out of us or he has got tochange the method of financing the Government, and we are going to see to it that he does notchange that method. He will not change it!

After Smedley Butlers testimony (and the testi-

mony of others) What should have happened didnot.

    The Congressional committee preliminary reportsaid:

This committee has had no evidence before it

that would in the slightest degree warrant callingbefore it such men as John W. Davis, Gen.HughJohnson, General Harbord, Thomas W. Lamont,Admiral Sims, or Hanford MacNider. (All involvedin the plot)

The committee will not take cognizance of namesbrought into the testimony which constitute mere

    hearsay.

This committee is not concerned with prematurenewspaper accounts especially when given and pub-lished prior to the taking of the testimony.

As the result of information which has been inpossession of this committee for some time, it was

decided to hear the story of Maj. Gen. Smedley D.Butler and such others as might have knowledgegermane to the issue. ...

The Congressional committee final report said:

In the last few weeks of the committee's official

life it received evidence showing that certain per-sons had made an attempt to establish a fascistorganization in this country. No evidence was pre-sented, and this committee had none to show, aconnection between this effort and any fascistactivity of any European country. There is no ques-tion that these attempts were discussed, wereplanned, and might have been placed in executionwhen and if the financial backers deemed it expedi-ent.

This committee received evidence from Maj. GenSmedley D. Butler (retired), twice decorated bythe Congress of the United States. He testifiedbefore the committee as to conversations with oneGerald C. MacGuire in which the latter is alleged tohave suggested the formation of a fascist armyunder the leadership of General Butler.

MacGuire denied these allegations under oath, butyour committee was able to verify all the pertinentstatements made by General Butler, with the ex-ception of the direct statement suggesting thecreation of the organization. This, however, wascorroborated in the correspondence of MacGuirewith his principal, Robert Sterling Clark, of New

York City, while MacGuire was abroad studying thevarious forms of veterans organizations of Fascistcharacter.

With all this distinguished American Heros service

to this country, sacrifice for its founding princi-

ples, and honor in the field of battle, he was dis-missed. In the end of day, money and powertrumped honor and truth.

Today this tale of willful corruption and willfuldestruction of our countries principles along withthe total absence of justice, honor, and compassionfor the American people or their belief in theircountry, rings more true than ever. We are a nationon the verge of our entire government beingusurped and or founding principles being disregard-

ed. Our constitution as it was meant to be, is a relicof the past. Our civil liberties, rights that shouldbe ours because we breath, not because they werebestowed by any other person or thing. Reasonsnone other than the fact, that we are. The rightswe hold so dear, are nothing but privileges to bemanipulated and restricted as those in power seefit. America is circling the drain on the ever quick-ening ride to Fascism. And no matter how the cor-porate news spins it, this is not a good thing, it is,the death of America.
