ABSTRACT
Literature is an interesting and useful thing to study. It can certain people and give new point of view about their life. Movie as one of literary works has a purpose of giving entertainment, enjoyment, and information to the viewer.by watching a movie, the viewers will get more advantages. They will feel comfortable and see the reflection of the real life of situation and condition from the movie. So, they can feel their own feeling. In this thesis the researcher focused on Jordan Belfort’s struggle in the main character in the “The Wolf of Wall Street”. The objective of this study was: (1) to describe Jordan Belfort’s struggle to get success found in “The Wolf of Wall Street” movie. (2) to know the effects of his struggle to get success found in “The Wolf of Wall Street” movie. The design of this study was descriptive qualitative research with the emphasis on the struggles of Jordan as the main character in the movie “The Wolf of Wall Street”. In collecting the data, the researcher watching the movie and understood the movie, then choose data dealing the problems. After the data being selected related to the purposes of the study, the researcher rewrote all of the data which have been chosen based on the quotations, dialogue and screenshot in the movie. The result of this study showed that Jordan Belfort had fourth struggles. First, he worked in “L.F. Rothschild” in New York company. Second, he learned the strategy from Mark Hanna. Third, he came to Investor Center in Long Island to know and get more information the strategy to be stockbroker. Fourth, he struggled to open his new company with his friends. The effects of Jordan Belfort’s struggle were to divided into two effects: Negative and Positive. From the negative effects, Jordan Belfort got stress because he were threatened to be arrested by the police because he had money laundering to the investor and he felt depressed because he couldn’t be leader to his company during he arrested by the police. Meanwhile, the positive effects were many people worked in the company “Stratton Oakmont” and Jordan Belfort was satiesfied being a success. The company quickly grows under Jordan Belfort’s be leadership in the company.
