bags on a missionThe Partnership between the Initials, Inc. iCare Foundation and Bethany Christian Services is changing the landscape for families across America. $5 from every purchase of a Zip Around Tote or YBL (Your Best Life) supports Bethany’s efforts to identify forever families for some of the longest waiting foster care children.

Together, we’ve helped over 252 children in U.S. Foster Care find their forever families since the beginning of our partnership with Bethany Christian Services in 2013.

Each month, we’ll be highlighting a currently waiting foster care child who is ready to meet his or her Forever Family.

Davion, 14Davion fancies himself a mechanic and says that he

already fixes bikes and brakes. “He is very into fixing

things,” says his worker. “He likes to take them apart

and figure how they work.” Davion doesn’t spend all his

time in the garage, though, and enjoys riding bikes and

horses as well as playing video games about shooting

and racing. Davion also enjoys playing card games such

as “Uno.” When it’s dinnertime, Davion is ready for pasta

aplenty since his favorite foods include mac ’n cheese and

spaghetti served on dishes of red and blue, his favorite

colors. After dinner, Davion might enjoy a game of catch

since baseball is his favorite sport, although he likes

basketball and football as well and follows the Detroit

Lions and Tigers. Since he is an athletic and energetic

boy, Davion dreams of one day riding bikes with a future

forever family. “Davion remains very eager to find an

adoptive family,” says his worker. He’d likely fit in well.

“He’s really personable and bubbly,” says Davion’s worker.

Davion can struggle at times with behavior, but he

receives services to help him develop coping skills to

manage his

feelings. In

school, Davion

his best. He does best when he

has structure. Davion has stated that he enjoys gym and

computer classes in school.

Because Davion thrives on one-on-one attention, he

would do best with two experienced parents in a home

in which he is the youngest or only child. His parents

will need patience and understanding when Davion gets

upset; one worker says that Davion responds best to “a

calm demeanor” by adults. Davion also will need some

time to transition into his new adoptive home.
