Queridos amigos, Esta Semana Santa será como ninguna otra Semana Santa. Sé que esto es una atenuación. ¿Cómo es posible que estemos celebrando las Misas y las liturgias de esta semana tan importante sin la presencia física de ustedes en la iglesia? Por supuesto, de alguna manera nos estamos ajustando a esta nueva normalidad, lo cual es bastante duro esta sema-na. Por favor, participen viendo en línea y acompañando a Jesús con su oración. Tal vez hayan notado, al igual que yo, que es raro cómo la mayoría de las cosas siguen su rumbo como que si nada estuviera diferente. Mientras tanto, otros aspectos de nuestras vidas cambian drástica y dramática-mente. A menudo he pensado en eso en Semana Santa. Jesús, Dios Mismo, llevó su Cruz salvadora por las calles de Jerusalén y para mu-chas personas, incluso para la mayoría, se perdió el significado de quién era Él y lo que eso significaba. Los árboles y plantas que podemos ver a nuestro alrededor, son parte de nuestra expe-riencia. En los Evangelios, los árboles están cargados de misterio porque forman parte del Misterio de Jesús. Este año tenemos la triste realidad de no poder distribuir a la gente pal-mas bendecidas. Esto será un sacrificio para todos nosotros. Encuentren una manera de conmemorar la llegada de Jesús a Jerusalén. Esta Sema-na, den la bienvenida a Jesús en su hogar y en sus corazones. ¡El día después de Su entrada en Jerusalén, Jesús, en Marcos 11: 12-14, maldijo una higuera! Vean ese pasaje. Reflexionen sobre la abundancia que Jesús nos da. ¿Lo decepcionamos? ¿Podemos nosotros ser fructífe-ros por medio de nuestra fe, oración y obras, incluso cuando las cosas parecen andar mal, cuando no es el mejor momento para nosotros? Los olivos "vieron" a Jesús en su agonía en el Huerto de Getsemaní. Incluso hasta hoy, alli existen antiguos olivos. Si pudieran hablar, ¿qué nos dirían? ¿Acompañarás a Jesús en Su Agonía esta Semana? Ayúdenlo a llevar la Cruz y el sufrimiento, aceptando su parte con amor y gratitud. La Cruz de Jesús, por supuesto, fue hecha de la madera de un árbol, en algún lugar. Podemos imaginar una brisa pacífica y fresca que sopla so-bre sus hojas y ramas. Dear Friends, This Holy Week will be like no other Holy Week. I know that is an understatement. How can it be that we will be praying the Masses and Liturgies of this most important Week without you with us in the church?! Of course, we are now somewhat accustomed to this new normal, but it will be tough this Week. Please participate by viewing online and by accompanying Jesus by your prayer. Maybe you have noticed, as I have, that it is surreal how most things continue as if nothing is different. Meanwhile, other aspects of our lives are drastically and dramatically changed. I’ve often thought of that in Holy Week. Jesus, God Himself, carried His sav-ing Cross through the streets of Jerusalem and for many people, even most people, the significance of who He was and what it meant, was lost. When they were being saved by His Passion and Death, most people had no idea what was happening. In keeping with our year-long theme in our school, we have a num-ber of trees on the cover of the bulletin this Holy Week. They are palm trees, a fig tree, olive trees, and the Tree of The Cross. The trees and plants we can see around us are part of our experi-ence. The trees at the time of Jesus are found in meaningful mo-ments of mystery in the Gospels. This year we have the sad reality of not being able to distribute blessed palms to the people. This will be a sacrifice for all of us. Find a way to commemorate Jesus’ arrival in Jerusalem. Welcome Jesus into your home and into your hearts this Week. The day after His entry into Jerusalem, Jesus, in Mark 11:12-14, cursed a fig tree! Take a look at that passage. Think about the fruitfulness that Jesus makes possible for us. Do we disappoint Him? Can we be fruitful by our faith, prayer and works, even when things seem off, when it isn’t the best time for us? The olive trees “saw” Jesus in His Agony in the Garden of Geth-semane. Even today there are ancient olive trees there. If they could talk, what would they tell us? Will you accompany Jesus in His Agony this Week? Help Him bear the Cross and suffering by accepting your share with love and gratitude. The Cross of Jesus, of course, was made from the wood of some tree, somewhere. We can imagine peaceful cool breezes blowing over its leaves and branches. But now we see it as the very Altar of the Lamb’s Sacrifice. There stands the Cross of Jesus revealed as the Tree of Life! Come, let us adore! My brothers and sisters, this Week can be the Week that renews our lives entirely. Let it be so! With my prayers, Fr. Matthew Zuberbueler Pastor

During these days when Holy Communion isn't possible please adopt the traditional and fruitful practice of praying a Spiritual Communion Prayer. Dear Parishioners of St. Anthony, The unprecedented suspension of public Masses has been a shock to our lives and our prayer. It is also seriously affecting the daily opera-tions of the parish. Holy Week 2020

Socially Distant, Spiritually Close

We will continue without public Masses. You are asked to join in the liturgies of Holy Week by viewing them online on our website or social media.

The church will be open for private prayer except during the major liturgical services of Holy Week. Please observe the social distancing guidelines and respect the ruling that no group of more than 10 people may be in the church at one time.

Palm Sunday

No palms will be distributed to the people this year. There will be no outdoor procession this year.

8:30 am Mass (English) will be livestreamed from St. Anthony’s and posted online. 11:15 am The Diocese will provide a livestream of the Mass of Palm Sunday, which will be celebrated by Bishop Burbidge. 1:00 pm Mass (Spanish) will be livestreamed from St. Anthony’s and posted online.

Monday-Wednesday 7:00 am Mass (English) will be live-streamed and posted online. 7:00 pm Mass (Spanish) will be live-streamed and posted online.

Holy Thursday 10:30 am Chrism Mass with Bishop Burbidge will be live-streamed on diocesan website and social media of the Diocese, (arlingtondiocese.org). 7:30 pm Mass of the Lord’s Supper will be live-streamed from St. Anthony’s but not recorded.

Visits to the Blessed Sacrament at the altar of repose will be possible by 10 people or less at a time after the Mass until mid-night. This Mass, according to parish custom, will be bilingual.

7:30 pm The Diocese will provide a livestream of the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper, celebrated by Bishop Burbidge.

Queridos amigos, Esta Semana Santa será como ninguna otra Semana Santa. Sé que esto es una atenuación. ¿Cómo es posible que estemos celebrando las Misas y las liturgias de esta semana tan importante sin la presencia física de ustedes en la iglesia? Por supuesto, de alguna manera nos estamos ajustando a esta nueva normalidad, lo cual es bastante duro esta sema-na. Por favor, participen viendo en línea y acompañando a Jesús con su oración. Tal vez hayan notado, al igual que yo, que es raro cómo la mayoría de las cosas siguen su rumbo como que si nada estuviera diferente. Mientras tanto, otros aspectos de nuestras vidas cambian drástica y dramática-mente. A menudo he pensado en eso en Semana Santa. Jesús, Dios Mismo, llevó su Cruz salvadora por las calles de Jerusalén y para mu-chas personas, incluso para la mayoría, se perdió el significado de quién era Él y lo que eso significaba. Los árboles y plantas que podemos ver a nuestro alrededor, son parte de nuestra expe-riencia. En los Evangelios, los árboles están cargados de misterio porque forman parte del Misterio de Jesús. Este año tenemos la triste realidad de no poder distribuir a la gente pal-mas bendecidas. Esto será un sacrificio para todos nosotros. Encuentren una manera de conmemorar la llegada de Jesús a Jerusalén. Esta Sema-na, den la bienvenida a Jesús en su hogar y en sus corazones. ¡El día después de Su entrada en Jerusalén, Jesús, en Marcos 11: 12-14, maldijo una higuera! Vean ese pasaje. Reflexionen sobre la abundancia que Jesús nos da. ¿Lo decepcionamos? ¿Podemos nosotros ser fructífe-ros por medio de nuestra fe, oración y obras, incluso cuando las cosas parecen andar mal, cuando no es el mejor momento para nosotros? Los olivos "vieron" a Jesús en su agonía en el Huerto de Getsemaní. Incluso hasta hoy, alli existen antiguos olivos. Si pudieran hablar, ¿qué nos dirían? ¿Acompañarás a Jesús en Su Agonía esta Semana? Ayúdenlo a llevar la Cruz y el sufrimiento, aceptando su parte con amor y gratitud. La Cruz de Jesús, por supuesto, fue hecha de la madera de un árbol, en algún lugar. Podemos imaginar una brisa pacífica y fresca que sopla so-bre sus hojas y ramas. Pero ahora lo vemos como el mismo Altar del Sacrificio del Cordero. ¡Allí está la Cruz de Jesús revelada como el Árbol de la Vida! Vengan, vamos a adorar! Dear Friends, This Holy Week will be like no other Holy Week. I know that is an understatement. How can it be that we will be praying the Masses and Liturgies of this most important Week without you with us in the church?! Of course, we are now somewhat accustomed to this new normal, but it will be tough this Week. Please participate by viewing online and by accompanying Jesus by your prayer. Maybe you have noticed, as I have, that it is surreal how most things continue as if nothing is different. Meanwhile, other aspects of our lives are drastically and dramatically changed. I’ve often thought of that in Holy Week. Jesus, God Himself, carried His sav-ing Cross through the streets of Jerusalem and for many people, even most people, the significance of who He was and what it meant, was lost. When they were being saved by His Passion and Death, most people had no idea what was happening. In keeping with our year-long theme in our school, we have a num-ber of trees on the cover of the bulletin this Holy Week. They are palm trees, a fig tree, olive trees, and the Tree of The Cross. The trees and plants we can see around us are part of our experi-ence. The trees at the time of Jesus are found in meaningful mo-ments of mystery in the Gospels. This year we have the sad reality of not being able to distribute blessed palms to the people. This will be a sacrifice for all of us. Find a way to commemorate Jesus’ arrival in Jerusalem. Welcome Jesus into your home and into your hearts this Week. The day after His entry into Jerusalem, Jesus, in Mark 11:12-14, cursed a fig tree! Take a look at that passage. Think about the fruitfulness that Jesus makes possible for us. Do we disappoint Him? Can we be fruitful by our faith, prayer and works, even when things seem off, when it isn’t the best time for us? The olive trees “saw” Jesus in His Agony in the Garden of Geth-semane. Even today there are ancient olive trees there. If they could talk, what would they tell us? Will you accompany Jesus in His Agony this Week? Help Him bear the Cross and suffering by accepting your share with love and gratitude. The Cross of Jesus, of course, was made from the wood of some tree, somewhere. We can imagine peaceful cool breezes blowing over its leaves and branches. But now we see it as the very Altar of the Lamb’s Sacrifice. There stands the Cross of Jesus revealed as the Tree of Life! Come, let us adore! My brothers and sisters, this Week can be the Week that renews our lives entirely. Let it be so! With my prayers, Fr. Matthew Zuberbueler Pastor

Holy Week 2020

Socially Distant, Spiritually Close

We will continue without public Masses. You are asked to join in the liturgies of Holy Week by viewing them online on our website or social media.

The church will be open for private prayer except during the major liturgical services of Holy Week. Please observe the social distancing guidelines and respect the ruling that no group of more than 10 people may be in the church at one time.

Palm Sunday

No palms will be distributed to the people this year. There will be no outdoor procession this year.

8:30 am Mass (English) will be live-streamed from St. Anthony’s and posted online. 11:15 am The Diocese will provide a live-stream of the Mass of Palm Sunday, which will be celebrated by Bishop Burbidge. 1:00 pm Mass (Spanish) will be live-streamed from St. Anthony’s and posted online.

Monday-Wednesday 7:00 am Mass (English) will be live-streamed and posted online. 7:00 pm Mass (Spanish) will be live-streamed and posted online.

Holy Thursday 10:30 am Chrism Mass with Bishop Burbidge will be live-streamed on diocesan website and social media of the Diocese, (arlingtondiocese.org). 7:30 pm Mass of the Lord’s Supper will be live-streamed from St. Anthony’s but not recorded.

Visits to the Blessed Sacrament at the altar of repose will be possible by 10 people or less at a time after the Mass until mid night. This Mass, according to parish custom, will be bilingual.

7:30 pm The Diocese will provide a live-stream of the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper, celebrated by Bishop Burbidge.

MEDITATION FOR THE SEVENTH WEEK

Mother Most Pure, I come to You today to beg you to undo this

knot in my life:

[Mention your request here] and free me from the snares of evil. God has granted you great

power over all the demons. I renounce all of them today, every

connection I have had with them, and I proclaim Jesus as my one

and only Lord and Savior. Mary, Undoer of Knots, crush the Evil

One’s head and destroy the traps he has set for me by this knot.

Thank you, dearest Mother. Most Precious Blood of Jesus, free

me!

PRAYER TO MARY, UNDOER OF KNOTS

Virgin Mary, Mother of fair love, Mother who never refuses to

come to the aid of a child in need, Mother whose hands never

cease to serve your beloved children because they are moved by

the divine love and immense mercy that exists in your heart, cast

your compassionate eyes upon me and see the snarl of knots that

exist in my life. You know very well how desperate I am, my pain,

and how I am bound by these knots. Mary, Mother to whom God

entrusted the undoing of the knots in the lives of his children, I

entrust into your hands the ribbon of my life. No one, not even the

Evil One himself, can take it away from your precious care. In your

hands there is no knot that cannot be undone. Powerful Mother,

by your grace and intercessory power with Your Son and My Lib-

erator, Jesus, take into your hands today this knot: [Mention your

request here] I beg you to undo it for the glory of God, once for all.

You are my hope. O my Lady, you are the only consolation God

gives me, the fortification of my feeble strength, the enrichment of

my destitution, and, with Christ, the freedom from my chains. Hear

my plea. Keep me, guide me, protect me, o safe refuge! Mary,

Undoer of Knots, pray for me.

A correction in the second paragraph of the Novena brochure (POPE FRANCIS & OUR LADY section): “Through your grace, your intercession, and your example, deliv-er us from all evil, Our Lady, and untie the knots that prevent us from being united with God, so that we, free from sin and error, may find Him in all things, may have our hearts placed in Him, and may serve Him always in our brothers and sisters.”

ORACIÓN A MARÍA, DESATADORA DE NUDOS Virgen María, Madre del Bello Amor, Madre que nunca ha abandonado a uno de sus hijos que implora por tu ayuda. Madre cuyas manos trabajan sin tregua por sus hijos tanto amados, porque son empujadas del amor divino, y de la infi-nita misericordia que sale de tu corazón. Vuelve hacia mí tu mirada llena de compasión. Mira el cúmulo de “nudos” en mi vida. Conoces mi desesperación y mi dolor. Sabes cuánto me paralizan estos nudos María, Madre encargada de Dios, de desatar los “nudos” de la vida de sus hijos, pongo nueva-mente la cinta de mi vida en tus manos. En tus divinas ma-nos no hay “nudo” que no pueda ser desatado. Madre Omni-potente, con la gracia y Tu poder de intercesión con tu hijo Jesús, mi salvador, Recibe hoy este “nudo” (nombrarlo si es posible) por la Gloria de Dios te pido desatarlo, y desatarlo para siempre. Espero en ti. Eres el único consuelo que Dios me ha dado. Eres la fortaleza de mis fuerzas precarias, la riqueza de mis miserias, la liberación de todo lo que me impi-de de estar con Cristo. Acoge mi llamada. Presérvame, guía-me, protégeme, se mi refugio. María que desata los nudos, ruega por mí.
