What is an optical illusion? Optical illusions, more appropriately known as visual illusions, involve visual deception. Due to the arrangement of images, effect of colors, impact of light source or other variable, a wide range of misleading visual effects can be seen.

If you've ever struggled to see the hidden image in a single-image stereogram, you may have discovered that not everyone experience visual illusions in the same way. For some illusions, some people simply are not able to see the effect.

While optical illusions can be fun and interesting, they also reveal a great deal about the working of the brain. Learn more about some of the most famous optical illusion and discover exactly how and why these visual illusions occur.

Illusions work differently on everyone, some people’s brains don’t see them at all, while illusions can effect some people so drastically that they start feeling nauseous. I tested illusions on several people including me, I was effected, but not very strongly, one person was barely able to see them. some people see certain types of optical illusions better than others, some people are more sensitive to some illusions but not others.

There are three main types: literal optical illusions that create images that are different from the objects that make them, physiological ones that are the effects on the eyes and brain of excessive stimulation of a specific type (brightness, color, size, position, tilt, movement), and cognitive illusions, the result of unconscious inferences.

Below are some optical illusions, some people after they saw them thought they were movie files, but no, these are only images, you only think they are moving. You may or may not see the illusion in some of them, it only means that you are less sensitive than others, keep looking at the illusions, you may be sensitive to some of them.

In this illusion, you may see the wheels turning.

In order to see this illusion, look at the black dot while moving your head forward and backward and you will see that the wheels on the outside appear to rotate.

In this illusion you may notice that the beans tend to move like waves.

The circles appear to rotate.

Look at the green line and move your head forward and backward and you will notice that the blue light seems to get bigger.

You may see two images in this picture, you could see an old lady or a young lady, look carefully and you will see both.

The boxes appear to change in size.

This illusion is very much like the bean illusion; the blue dots appear to move.

This illusion is like the wheel illusion; the snake appears to move.
