From the editor….

We need someone to fill the position of Club Secretary, we have two openings on the Board of Directors, and we need someone to be the Historian for our CCR-AACA Club. Please let any board member know if you are interested in filling any of these important positions. If you are receiving a paper copy of THE DISTRIBUTOR, and you have access to a computer, go to our website www.cenconnaaca.org to see the electronic version. All of the pictures are in color. No passwords are required. Also, if you are receiving a paper copy and would like to receive the email copy instead, just let me know. This would also help your club with our ever increasing copying and mailing costs.

Central CT Region News December 2020

President’s Message

CCR Members,

I hope all is well with you and your families during the past 8 months of this pandemic. As you know we had to cancel all our board and membership meetings, and this will continue into next year (hopefully we can start activities in the spring).

In the meantime, AACA dues renewals for 2021 will be due shortly. The Board has approved two items: our club will continue to be a member of the 4Cs, which is the advocate for the CT antique auto hobby, and two, we are waiving the $15 chapter dues for 2021 for all members who renew their 2021 dues with the AACA ($45). You have two ways of paying your AACA dues: pay your renewal directly to AACA by mail or electronically, or send your check for $45, made out to CCR-AACA to our Treasurer Fred Glabau, 20 Misty Mountain Rd, Kensington, CT 06037. Please send your check to Fred by 12/31/2020. If you pay your dues directly to the AACA, please email Fred at [email protected] to let him know that you renewed. If you have already renewed, please email Fred, and thank you for renewing.

I hope all current members will renew their national AACA dues, as we had many interesting meeting sites planned for 2020, that hopefully we will get to visit in 2021. Also, we are always looking for new members with new ideas, views and possible meeting sites. Again this year, I have for 2021 four free AACA memberships for anyone who has never been a member of AACA before, and CCR will waive our dues. Please let me know if you know of anyone who might be interested in trying out the club for free.

Thank you and I hope to see many of you in 2021.

Ray Yirga President and Membership Chairman

Along with paying our annual dues, December is the month when we hold our election of officers for the following year. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to have our usual pizza party and election in person this year. I have been asked to head the nominations committee and present the slate to our members for a vote. Here is the current slate of officers to be voted on:

President: Ray Yirga Secretary: John Bieback Vice President: Nick Nesci Treasurer: Fred Glabau

The Board of Directors will remain the same with the possible addition of three new members.

Please send me any additional nominations for Officers by December 22. I will then send club members an email during Christmas week where we will vote by return email for the 2021 Officers. Also, membership on the Board of Directors is open to all members and we welcome anyone to participate. Let me know if you are interested in filling one of the three open positions on our Board for 2021. Thank you.

Bob Hand Email: [email protected] or text to 860-690-2378

You can use the AACA renewal form that came with your November-December issue of Antique Automobile magazine, or mail a check to AACA, PO Box 417, Hershey, PA 17033 or pay online at aaca.org.

Last month we sadly reported that long-time CCR member Sal DiFabio passed away and have recently received a very nice note from his wife Tina addressed to our CCR members. Our best wishes to Tina and family during these difficult times.

Many of our members have been asking about long-time CCR member Lou Maglaty. Lou was born in West Hartford and recently moved to the Boston area to live with his daughter Michelle. As some of you know, Lou and Sal DiFabio have been friends for almost 70 years, ever since their time in the service together. Michelle sent me this email updating us on Lou’s new life in Massachusetts. Lou’s Model A is for sale and is pictured in this Distributor. Lou would love to hear from you and can be contacted by email at [email protected]. Here’s wishing Lou, Michelle and Joe all the best during this Christmas season! Hello Bob,

I’m hoping this email finds you and all your loved ones well.

Thank you for updating Dad’s contact email. He has been with me since Mom’s passing all these months. We have kept him safe and healthy, but of course, he misses his life (Mom, home, friends, church). He was born in West Hartford and lived there all his life. It has been difficult transitioning to Massachusetts at the age of 89, but he does love being with us, and now considers our home his.

Also, thank you for sending the latest Distributor. I’ve printed it and Dad will love reading it. I particularly appreciate the listing of his Model A for sale. If you think a photo would help sell the car, we can provide some for you to choose from. I know we are in the winter season with not much activity. But we hope to sell it to someone in early spring that will love it as much as Mom and Dad did. It is a fun ride!

Lastly, I want to extend my sincerest condolences to everyone in the club on the passing of Sal DiFabio. It was difficult breaking the news to Dad. He and Sal go back to their days in the service stationed on Long Island when they were just “kids”. Sal was a great friend for almost 70 years. Not sure if you know, but he was the person that got Dad interested in cars and introduced him to your club. To say Dad will miss him does not cover the loss. I am sure there are many of your members that feel the same way.

Thanks for keeping Dad connected. When Covid ends, I am hoping he can attend some events. He truly misses everyone.

Warm regards, Michelle
