About TheraFit GymTheraFit Gym® is dedicated to providing specialized, activity-based rehabilitation & fitness programs for people of all ages. We specialize in treating people with neurological-based disabilities to rehabilitate them and help improve their quality of life. Our specialized facility offers fully accessible and adaptive equipment including the Quadriciser®.

Our Team

Our History:TheraFit Gym was born out ofPersonal Tragedy. Richard Ayres was in a severe auto accidentresulting in a Traumatic Brain Injury in January of 2002. After Rich had exhausted his insurance and therapies he was sent home to be cared for and continue his therapy with is wife. Rich was not making progress sitting at home.

Through fundraising we purchased the Quadriciser and through the progress that was made from a basement of a house TheraFit Gym was born. We aim to allow any person with any disability to enjoy life to the fullest by aiding them to increase independence. We were made to MOVE.

Is Physical Therapy right for You?

Can you or your caregiver benefit from transfer training? Do you have pain? Does you have muscular tightness? Have you experienced a decrease in function recently? Can you stand or walk on your own? Do you have poor standing or sitting balance? Could you benefit from gait training?

Aqua TherapyAquatic therapy is performed at the Maryland Athletic Club (MAC), and is free of charge to the patient.

The MAC has 3 different pools that we are able to utilize and a heated whirlpool.

The pool temperatures range from cooler Olympic style pools to a warm therapeutic pool.

The lifestyle pool has parallel bars. All pools and hot tub are easily accessible.

The MAC also has four family changing areas to help assist patients in changing.

Fitness TherapyThe Fitness Therapy program offers members one-on-one assistance with our Certified Fitness Therapists. We customize members’ exercise program based on individual needs, abilities, and goals. Additionally we monitor their progress at every session, coaching them to new and exciting levels of mobility and greater independence. Fitness therapy is also overseen by Physical Therapist and can also be a continuation of care when all other avenues have been exhausted.

Quadriciser ProgramThe Quadriciser program allows members to utilize the Quadriciser with or without the assistance of their caregivers. TheraFit staff is always on hand to assist and guide members through the use of the Quadriciser and other equipment. We develop a comprehensive individualized exercise program that the member can work on by him or herself either at the center or at home.

Gym Membership

Durable Medical Equipment Therafit Gym is a supplier for Medicare and Medicaid durable medical equipment. We supply hard-to-get equipment such as adult gait trainers and Hoyer lift combos.
