James Joyce ” Ulysses”

1.Heroic compation-

Ulysse by Jame Joyce isn’t so strong as Homeric Ulysse.. He is kind, is full of compation, he like the animals , the birds, and he accepts his woman’s unfaithfulness without revenging.

Mentaly : the ancient Ulisse and the modern one, both are smart . Leopold Bloom representing the reason in the novel, he is not able to love with a full passion as his wife is.

Emotionally- Molly Bloom is the complete half for her husband, be cause she is alive spiritually, she loves she has memories , she has uncontrollable instincts.

Molly and Leopold are Jewish, they are discriminated and unable to act.

In the bar Leopold Bloom is in a way acusedthat he is a Jewish, but he answer that they should drink for justice.

Leopold Bloom feels guilty that he has no descedentfor his name because his son has died and he is quite old to have a child.. Another motif is that his father also died.

Stephen Dedalus has remorse of consciousness that his mother died and he didn’t was at her funeral.
