The purpose of this newsletter is to share product updates, offers and relevant news amongst our customers and the wider dental community. We do hope you find it useful and enjoyable and would welcome any contributions or feedback. We aim to keep it light hearted so don’t expect scientific papers in every edition. There will also be competitions on a regular basis for the whole dental team. Welcome to our first edition of the Bugle, where we hope to create a space for news and current events as well as innovation, creativity and an insight into life here at Implantium and Dentale. We are very excited about the launch of our newsletter and hope to open the doors to communication and partnership with the whole squad, customers and personnel alike.

Summer has been eventful here at Implantium with the launch of new products such as the Densah® burs by Versah® highlighted overleaf, as well as the introduction to our new BMS surgical kits, tested and chosen by leading clinicians in the UK. Our sister company ImplantPilot® has also been busy with a patient campaign which kicked off in May. Patients were seen at Oracle Stafford and we are very pleased with the amount of interest we received from this outreach.

Our team were busy clocking smiles on the 12th & 13th of August at the Shrewsbury Flower Show where Dentale and ImplantPilot® hosted a selfie challenge for all their visitors. The sun was shining, the strawberries and cream were flowing and our guests were more than happy to flash their cheesy grins for a chance to win one of our lovely prizes. Sadly, we said goodbye to one of the team this month, Hannah Jones, who has been with us for just over two years. Hannah will be greatly missed by both staff and customers but we wish her all the best. Managing director Jason Buglass returned in early August from a 5-week trip to 20 different countries with son Bruce. Thankfully, they returned in time for daughter Lydia’s wedding in late August. Some of you may have already met Lydia in her capacity as business development manager, and on her return from honeymoon she will face new challenges as she endeavours to gain a broader understanding of our business, services and products.

The fun continues on at Implantium UK as we say farewell to summer and start preparing for the busy season ahead. Visit us next at the BDIA in London on the 6th-8th October and let us know what you thought of our first newsletter. We look forward to seeing you there!

We’ve told you all about what’s going on with us, now it’s time to hear from you. Our customer highlight section is dedicated to featuring our customers. Dental related or not, we want to know what you’ve been up to and recognise you for all the great things you’ve been doing.

This summer we caught up with one of our customers, Alison Foxall from Llandudno Smiles who has been graciously volunteering her time in aid of those in need. In July this year, Alison and a group of other professionals travelled to Uganda with Dentaid for 2 weeks of volunteer dentistry. The volunteer group consisted of 4 dentists, 1 hygienist, 1 practice manager, 1 dental nurse, 1 practice administrator and a teacher. Retired hygienist and Dentaid Coordinator Barbara Koffman, admirably steered the group to various locations for clinics which ranged from prisons to schools, and an island on Lake Victoria to community centres. Barbara showed the group how to set up temporary clinics using specially designed dental chairs and always ensured that the group were well fed and had a clean bed to sleep in at the end of each day.

Each volunteer took caseloads of dental sundries with them including face masks, gloves, local anaesthetic, gauze, fluoride gel and glass ionomer as well as raising the funds to cover the costs of their own flights and accommodation. The British contingent were joined by a team of Ugandan Dentists who travelled with them to the various locations. Alison speaks very highly of this team as she reflects, “working alongside the Ugandan dentists was a real privilege. They taught us all perseverance and patience as they worked steadily and surely to remove a stubborn root, or to clear the last molecule of decay in a cavity, no mean

task without electricity, light, or running water. The Ugandans showed us new ways of using elevators and excavators. In return, we showed them how to use sutures, which they practiced on banana skins! We saw over a hundred patients a day, mostly for extractions, but some for basic fillings”.

With the help of the Ugandan dentists, Alison and the other volunteers were able to spread oral health messages to lots of people in need. Without Dentaid most of their patients would not seek dental treatment as they could not afford the costs. “The fortnight was extremely rewarding” says Alison, “and I would recommend such a project to all of you. We had a real life changing trip with lots of fun and laughter along the way”.

Have you heard about the Densah® Bur Technology? - Create More with Less

A breakthrough in implant dentistry and now in the UK, Versah’s® Densah® burs are revolutionary!

Introducing the new Densah® burs with improved bone preserving technology. The Densah® bur technology is based on a novel biochemical bone preparation technique called Osseodensification. Contrary to the standard drilling techniques mentioned above, Osseodensification does not excavate bone tissue but rather it compacts and auto-grafts the bone outwards, expanding it in all different directions away from the osteotomy.
