Aim: How do we talk about and write about our habits?
Do Now: what is something that you always do every night? What is something that you always do
every morning?
Simple Present Tense
• We use this tense to talk about things that happen always, usually, frequently, sometimes, or never.
• An action that repeats it self.
• NOT something that is happening right now.
Present continuous versus Simple Present tense
• Present continuous: – I am watching T.V. right now. – She is listening to the teacher right now.– They are playing soccer right now.
• Simple Present tense:– I watch T.V. every night.– She listens to the teacher every day. – They usually play soccer after school.
Simple Present Tense
• For: I, You, We, They - We DO NOT change the verb
• For: He, She, It - We ADD “s” or “es” to the end of the verb.
• Example: – I watch T.V. every night.– She watches T.V every night.
Discussion
1. Take out a piece of paper Write your questions on the top of your paper.
2. Walk around the class, survey and record everyone’s answers.
3. Write two paragraphs summarizing your findings.
Example Paragraph
• Only four people always sleep in the afternoon. Two people sometimes sleep in the afternoon. The rest of the class never sleeps in the afternoon.
Homework: Paragraph Writing
• Write a paragraph about your own habits. What are some things that you always do in the morning, at night, in school, in class, on the weekend? What are some things that you sometimes do? And what are some things that you never do?
