Welcome LetterWith only 68 Cents in my bank account, I was still convinced that you can make a living doing what you love. It was with this total in my checkbook that I landed my first major acting role. 68 Cents is what I was willing to have in order to realize my dream. Acting is a passion, an art, and a need that fills my gut. It is this passion that motivated me six years ago to pull together a group of the most talented friends I have and create a Company, a Company I lovingly named the 68 Cent Crew Theatre Company. Over the past six years, the 68 Cent Crew Theatre Company has grown into a family of loving, supportive and extraordinarily gifted actors. We are fortunate to have come so far in such a short time, but it could not have come without hard work, commitment, and fervent love for what we do.

How this came to beFifteen years ago, my mother and I often went to a local theatre to support a friend. I always left there beaming. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. My mother told me that I should try and audition for a play. I would tell her “no way, I could never do that” but it was then that I fell in love with the magic of theatre..My mother passed away March 8, 1995. In January of 1996 I read an audition notice in the New Jersey Star Ledger. It read An Italian American Reconciliation. I thought to myself, “I am Italian and I am an American so let me go down there and see what this is about.” I thought of my mother and decided that life is short, and what was I waiting for?So, I went to the audition and after reading the lines for literally 15 seconds the director stopped me and gracefully thanked me for coming. I guess I didn’t do a very good job. I left with my tail between my legs, but I snuck a copy of the script into my jacket on the way out the door. That night, I read An Italian American Reconciliation all the way through, and not only did I fall in love with the script, I also fell in love with the words of John Patrick Shanley. The next day I showed up to the call back auditions uninvited and asked the director for another shot. He tried to send me away, but I pleaded with him. “Look, I read this last night and I know I can do this, PLEASE give me another chance. Please.” Finally, he gave in and let me read again for the role of “Aldo Scalicki” and I won the part! So, that’s when it happened. That’s when I knew theatre was going to be my life. I carried around my 13 By Shanley book for 15 years and I knew one day I would produce this entire festival and HERE WE ARE!I want to welcome you all tonight and I want to thank you for your support. Most of all I want to thank John Patrick Shanley for giving us the words that will be up on that stage for you tonight. I hope you enjoy the evening, and that you have an opportunity to see the rest of the festival.

Brent Austin Tarnol - JohnHitting the audition process hard at the sweet age of 14 character actor, Brent Austin Tarnol takes the industry by storm. Since starting out on the stage as the comic relief role in his first stage performance, Brent still pursues comedy, but added some drama to his archive. Trained by acting coaches Josh Adell and the great Joe Palese, Brent has learned to tighten his skills with the Strausberg, Stanislavksy and Meisner meth-

ods. With only a half a decade in the business, Brent has booked over twenty-professional roles. With two nationwide commercials (T-mobile and Del-Taco) and TV credits which include guest spots on television shows Heroes, How I Met Your Mother, Women’s Murder Club, Samantha Who and recurring roles on Raising the Bar, and Disney Channel’s: Sonny with a Chance…along with many others. Brent is overwhelmed to be back on stage for the first time in 4 years; wishing all the cast and crew the best.

Shelly Hacco - MaryShelly’s role as Mary in The Red Coat will mark her third performance (the others be-ing Lovers and Other Strangers and Night Stories) here as a crew member at Theatre 68. Her involvement in this show, and the company in general, has given her a much needed creative outlet, one that differs greatly from her other life as a full-time staff and student of the Trojan family, and for this she is grateful. She would like to thank

Ronnie Marmo for his guidance and friendship, her Mom and Dad (duh!), her neato friends, and, most importantly, YOU for being the extra groovy audience you are. Be sure to catch the rest of the pieces in the festival; they are all equally swell!
