The Chamber Spotlight

Hudson Valley Hospital is now affiliated with NewYork-Presbyterian, one of the premier academic medical centers and health care systems in the world.

Recognized as one of the Hudson Valley’s 10 Best Places to Work, Hudson Valley Hospital Center is an award winning, state of the art hospital with over 350 physicians and 1200 employees. Our mission first and foremost is to continue serv-ing our community and providing the excellent level of care for which we have been recognized time and again.

The hospital’s $100 million expansion program created a Surgery Center, doubled-in-size the “No Wait” Emergency Room, and created the Center for Rehabilitation Services, Institute for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine. A

450-space free parking garage complements the all private room patient tower. The Cheryl R. Lindenbaum Comprehensive Cancer Center is home to the Ashikari Breast Center and brings unparal-leled total cancer care to the Hudson Valley.

NewYork-Presbyterian/Hudson Valley Hospital is the recipient of the prestigious MAGNET Nursing Award. NYP/HVH is the first hospital in a seven-county region to attain the highly coveted Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Magnet designation is the highest national recognition a nursing service can receive and granted only to hospitals that undergo a rigorous, voluntary evaluation that must have the support of executive leader-ship.

NYP/HVH received the AHA Gold Plus Award for Stroke Care which recognizes the hospital’s commitment and success in ensuring stroke patients receive the most aggressive treatment, greatly improving their chances of avoiding long term disabilities.

It is the only hospital in the region to earn “Baby Friendly” status from Baby Friendly USA and the World Health Organization for excellence in Maternity care and breastfeeding support.

As we start 2016, the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce is in full swing!

The purpose of a Chamber of Commerce is to promote business within its ranks. It is our belief that Chamber members should support each other. They should try to support the services of fellow Chamber members. In the coming months we are looking at new and exciting ways to enhance this organization. We partnered with Relay for Life and are planning to do so with other organizations in an effort to enhance and promote business and Chamber membership.

Our next event is the 8th Jilco/Yorktown Chamber of Commerce Home, Lifestyles & Family Show at the Jefferson Valley Mall on February 20 from 11-4 pm . We have assembled a variety of vendors and activities to make that day helpful, informative and fun for the community. Come and see the latest in better living. Please contact the Chamber office for exhibitor information.

The Chamber will be hosting seven major events this coming year in addition to the 12 evening and 12 morning breakfast networking meetings. Our next networking meeting will be at Funtime Amusements on February 22 at 6:00pm at the Jefferson Valley Mall and the next breakfast meeting will be on

March 7 at the Coach Diner in Yorktown Heights. The best way to utilize Chamber functions is to attend. Networking meetings give members a chance to rub elbows with potential clients.

In closing I want to give special thanks to our Diamond Sponsors: Fieldhome, Yorktown Funeral Home, Little Sorrento Restaurant, New York Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital, Breslin Realty, Durante, Bock & Tota, PLLC, Yorktown News, Club Fit, 1007.7 WHUD, Yorktown Auto Body, Frankie & Augie’Z Ristorante and Lennox Hill Heart and Vascular Institute of New York. Our Platinum Sponsors: Elite Dental Studios, Wild Fusion Asian Sushi Grill & Bar, Storage Town, Comprehensive Computers, Inc., Camp Nabby and GHP Office Realty. Our Gold Sponsors: Northern Westchester Hospital, The Goddard School, Events To Remember, Signs, Inc. and Lower and Lower Hudson Valley E. A. P.

My door is always open to members. Please let me hear from you with any concerns or suggestions.

Since 1928 our mission in Yorktown is remembering those Veterans who have served our country with honor by organizing Yorktown’s Memorial Day and Veterans Day Parades, creating our

Veterans Commemorative Park, flying Veteran’s burial flags in our new Honor Flag program, and ensuring every known veteran’s grave in Yorktown is decorated with a US flag for Memorial Day. We visit local schools and speak to community organizations about America’s Veterans and their many needs. Our website (www.nylegion1009.org), our free e-Newsletter, and our e-mails enable

everyone to stay informed about our programs and events.

We welcome new members. Veterans who served during America’s war-time eras can contact us at: 914-510-2975 and become part of our Post.

Honor your family’s Veteran with an engraved Veteran Brick which can be purchased and placed in our Commemorative Park. All profits realized are donated exclusively to Veterans-in-need

and Veterans charities. Please call: 914-455-0096.

Our newly refurbished, air-conditioned Hall seats 115 people, and is equipped with WiFi for your next event, seminar, or party. Reservations can be made at: 302-495-9143.
