This year the Yonkers Chamber ofCommerce is proud to present theEntrepreneurial Award to JosyaneColwell, Owner and Executive Chef ofLe Moulin Event Planning andCatering and the recently opened LeMoulin Eatery and Wine Bar locatedon our beautiful Yonkers waterfront.Josyane created Le Moulin over 35years ago, bringing her southernFrench sensibilities and palate to herfirst business location in Irvington, NY.Then married to a commercial produc-er, Josy found herself hosting dinnerparties not only for herself but herfriends and what had begun as a hobbyblossomed into a business. Le Moulinis one of the few sole proprietorshipoff-site caterers owned and operated bya woman in lower Westchester and sheis basically self-taught, drawing on herlove of food and fine presentation fromher French roots. Josyane’s businesscontinued to evolve and she not onlycooked and catered in various chal-lenging off-site venues, she honed herskills in the complicated logistics ofevent planning, from consulting onvenues, to staffing, wine lists, décor
and entertainment.Josyane has long been a champion of
the Yonkers waterfront and wasinvolved in early networking events onthe Yonkers Pier in the early days ofthe Downtown/Waterfront BusinessImprovement District. She catered the inaugu-ration party for the newly electedMayor of Yonkers John Spencer on theYonkers Pier, as well as, the ribboncutting for Collins Enterprise as theybegan development on the waterfrontin the early 2000s. Zuppa, X2O andthe Dolphin would later establish whitelinen restaurants there. While Josyremained in her café on Main Street inIrvington for over 25 years, in 2014,she took the opportunity to open LeMoulin, her French eatery and winebar, on the Yonkers waterfront at OnePierpointe Street. it comes from the heart, and it’s muchmore than a job. Food is nature, itshould be healthy and organic, andalong with imagination, creativity andbeauty, it should be shared - this is thesoul of Le Moulin Catering and Eatery.Despite her grueling work schedule,Josy has always found a way to sup-port local non-profit organizations suchas the United Negro College Fund withlarge events at the home of MadameC.J.
