MOUNTAIN MUD SLING JULY 28ANNUAL FAMILY FRIENDLY EVENT AT PINE MOUNTAIN

Join us for some muddy, family-friendly fun at the annual Mountain Mud Sling at Pine Mountain Resort on Saturday, July 28. The event runs from 9 am to 1 pm with waves starting every 15 minutes. Try it once, try it again, or try it as many times as you can stand! Cost is $25 per individual or $100 for a team (5 or 6 people). Additional team members are $10 each. The corporate rate of $200 covers 10-12 signups. All entries receive a T-shirt if registered by July 24.

A recent pool closure may have kept the YMCA’s Summer Day Camp kids from an afternoon of swimming but as the saying goes, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Camp staff arranged a homemade slip-and-slide for an afternoon of outdoor water fun. The Y’s summer Day Camp is experiencing record enrollment this year, averaging 50 kids per week.

FITNESSSESSION 2 STARTS MONDAY, JULY 16

Now is the time to get signed for Summer Session 2 fitness classes. Our fitness classes are tailored for the health seeker of all levels from beginners to seasoned vets. So whether you’re in shape or out of shape, looking to maintain or regain your health, come see what the Y can do for you. Fitness classes are also an excellent way to meet new friends. Not sure where you fit? Ask the Welcome Desk for assistance. They can guide you to the right class for you.

AQUATICSMINI SESSIONSCONTINUING

A condensed swim instruction schedule designed to help those busy families who can’t commit to a full five-week schedule continues with a new 2-week session July 9.The new mini swim sessions condense a typical five-week schedule into eight pool sessions over a two-week period.Cost for the mini session is $36 for members ($87 general public) and registration is available by calling 774-4076.

YOUTH/FAMILYMERMAID NIGHT;

GYMNASTICS CAMPA splish, splash mermaid bash is set for JULY 27. Open to children 3-12, the evening will feature swimming, hair braiding, nail painting and slime-making fun. Cost is $10 for members.The first of two summer gymnastic camps run July 16, 18, 20. Cost is $57 for members and $91 for General Public. Camp focuses on beginner skills for newcomers to the sport as well as enhancing the skills of advanced gymnasts. Led by Calyn Miller. Call 774-4076.

Thank you to our volunteers, partners and participants for making the 2018 U.P. Northwoods Triathlon another terrific YMCA event. And thank you those near and far who participated! We’re already looking forward to 2019!

It’ll be an exciting year to join us at the annual Corks & Forks, as the YMCA plans to celebrate the success of the Capital Campaign and hopefully unveil final plans for the upcoming remodel of the facility!Join us for the fifth annual event on Thursday, Sept. 20, at Pine Grove Country Club. Cost is $50 per person or $90 per couple, with all proceeds from tickets and raffles benefiting the YMCA’s Annual Campaign which supports scholarship memberships and programming.
