The World’s FirsT ieCex Zone 1 WindoWs TableT noW availableSouth Australian rugged computing solution provider APC Technology, is now offering the world’s first IECEx certified Windows 10 enterprise tablet to the Australian and New Zealand markets.

The intrinsically safe, Windows 10, Intel-based tablet, has gained certification for ATEX and IECEx Zone 1 areas internationally throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia Pacific. The device is also certified for UL 913 Class 1 Division 1 explosive areas of hazardous locations in the United States and CSA 22.2 in Canada.

Manufactured by US based company Aegex Technologies, the Aegex10 Intrinsically Safe tablet is the first Windows 10 enterprise device to hold global intrinsic safety certifications for HazLoc operations worldwide, where high concentrations of flammable gases, vapors or dusts are likely to occur in normal operation.

The intrinsically safe tablet is the first to bring Windows 10 capabilities into industries such as oil and gas, chemical, mining and pharmaceutical that operate highly explosive environment. While most mobile devices are not permitted in highly volatile zones of hazardous locations because they could cause a spark, Aegex’s 10.1-inch tablets are certified intrinsically safe, or incapable of igniting an explosion.

The Aegex10 intrinsically safe tablets can synchronise with an organisation’s Internet of Things to allow users to transmit real-time data from within the most hazardous zones of their operations.
