What is Yggdrasil?
Yggdrasil is the World Tree, a
giant Ash tree. This tree is the
‘center of the universe’ in which
Midgard is located in the middle
of the tree and all other realms
are connected through either the
branches or roots of this tree.
Theoretically Asgard is located
near the top and Hel is located
within the roots. This is similar
to the Christian beliefs of heaven
and hell.
It is said that Odin the Allfather
hung himself from one of the
branches in order to gain wisdom
