Q) Explain why an airline pilot would use Earth Science in his or her career.

A) There are many ways to describe why a airline pilot would use Earth Science.

An airline pilot would always want to know how and what he can do to protect or save his or her passengers and co-workers. He or she would want to study meteorology, hydrology or geology.

METEOROLOGY

• An airline pilot would use meteorology in his or her career to figure out the climate of a certain place or the weather of a certain place. He or she might want to know these things because if he didn’t danger would come to the plane like for example if a storm came the plane could break down or if a heavy gust of wind came it would cause severe damage.

HYDROLOGY

• An airline pilot would use hydrology in his or her career to figure out the depth of lakes, rivers, ocean, etc. He or she might want to know this because if the plane crashes and lands in the water the passengers wouldn’t know what to do but the pilot would have some knowledge about the water beneath them.

GEOLOGY

• An airline pilot would use geology in his or her career to examine rocks and the structures of the earth. If a plane crashes on a low flat, rocky surface such as mountains, hills, and plateaus then the pilot might know how to determine the situation.
