Jesus said, “Suffer the littlechildren to come unto me, andforbidthemnot:forofsuchisthekingdomofGod”(Mark10:14).
GethsemaneChildren’sMinistry(GCM) was established withthe dual purpose of meetingthe spiritual needs of childrenwithin our church, and ofreaching out to children outsidethe church. It seeks to educatebelieving children in the Wordof God (Proverbs 22:6), and toevangelise unbelieving childrenwiththeGospeloftheLordJesusChrist (Matthew 28:19-20). WethankGod for a committee thathas been formed to oversee theplanning and execution of theGCMactivities.ThepresentGCMcommittee comprises Pr KelvinLim,BroKennethWong,BroNeo

Melissa MahScripture records an occasion inJesus’ earthlyministry where hewas received by the exuberantpraisesof children in the templeof God, proclaiming, “Hosannato the Son of David” (Matthew21:15)! The Lord Jesus was verypleased with the children’searnestandsincereexpressionsofpraise.ThiscanbeseenfromHisimmediaterebuttalofthescribesand Pharisees’ complaint aboutthe children’s joyful renderingof glory unto Christ: “Yea; haveyenever read,Outof themouth
of babes and sucklings thouhast perfected praise” (Matthew21:16)? Our Lord welcomed thechildren’s praises, and did notbrushthemaside.
Likewise, the worshipfulsinging of the children in ourchurchgreatlyhonourstheLord.Gethsemane Children’s Choiris established to encourage theyoung ones in our church toglorify and praise the Name ofChrist from an early age. TheGethsemaneChildren’sChoirisapartoftheGethsemaneChildren’sMinistry. One of the mainobjectivesoftheChildren’sChoirministryistoteachthechildrentoworshipGodthroughthesingingof Christian hymns. When thechildren join the congregationto sing, they learn to “Giveuntothe LORD the glory due untohisname”(Psalm29:2;cf.Psalm22:22). We prayerfully instructthem to direct their hearts andminds unto the Almighty God
inworship. This is an importantaspect of the children’s singingduring their choir presentations. They should know that they arenotsingingasinaperformancetoshowofftheirabilities, butrather, singinginworshipofGodandtoexaltGod’sholyName.Wepraythatthechildreninthechoirwillbe spontaneous in their praisesunto God. May they always beready to sing with gladness ofheartanddeclarethegoodnessofGod(cf.Psalm95:1)!

they have grown up.We shouldnot underestimate how readilylittle children can learn spiritualtruths as they sing the hymnlyrics.Certainly, alltheseavenuesfor children to be grounded inthe faith (cf. Colossians 2:7) arepreciousandnottobewasted.
An added benefit ofparticipatinginregularchildren’schoirpracticesisthatthechildrenmay in the process be instilled(from an early age) with someof the disciplines of Christianservice, including consecrationofheartthroughprayer, humility
in thanksgiving, courageousfaithtowitnessforChrist,joyfulperseverance, discipline andself-denial.
We thank God for a team ofsisters who labour to train theChildren’s Choir. They are SisStefanieWong (who is presentlyaway inMelbourne), SisMelissaMah, Sis Ellyzabeth and SisAngeline Wong. Please prayfor them that their efforts willeffectively nurture our childrenintheknowledgeofGod’s truth, godly disciplines ofworship andserviceofourLord.Furthermore,

We encourage all parentsto bring your children (5 to 12yearsofage)tojointheChildren’sChoir practices every Sunday,9.00-10.00am. Younger childrenarealsowelcometojointhechoir, provided they are able to followinstructions.
JustasthosechildreninGod’stemple honoured Christ as theycame into His presence withsongs of exultation, may ourchildren also rejoice to honourGodwiththeirsongsofpraiseinGod’schurch!

Cheering the TroubledJesus wants Christians to be kind-hearted towards
one another. Hence, we should never neglect or hesitate to show love towards Christians who are in need or in trouble.
Jesus will not forget the kindness that Christians show to fellow believers. When He comes again as the King of kings, He will commend their deeds of kind-ness by saying, “Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.” Then they will ask Him, “When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?” (Matthew 25:38-39).
Jesus will then answer them, “Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me” (v. 40). In other words, whatever Christians do to cheer and strengthen their needy and troubled brothers and sisters in Christ, will be considered as done to Christ Himself.
Children, do not ignore or despise those who are poor or weak or sick or troubled. But attend to them with love and kindness. This will please the Lord, and He will reward you.
Matthew 25:36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me:
I was in prison, and ye came unto me.
