The launch of a new collection from Dornbracht is always a significant event in the design world. One of the leading manufacturers of premium brassware, Dornbracht draws its inspiration as much from art and artists as from technology and engineering. Their core ranges are the category benchmarks for design and quality. For C.P. Hart, FIL is very special, as Dornbracht have created this collection exclusively for us – an industry first. Far more important is that the design of FIL is itself something special. From the pen of Sieger Design, FIL marries a crisp slimline profile with a gently curved lever. SIEGER DESIGNInternationally-renowned German design house, led by brothers Christian and Michael Sieger. Although they work on everything from textiles to espresso machines, their experience in bathroom product design is unrivalled. Sieger’s clients include ceramics and furniture manufacturers Alape and Duravit, and their relationship with Dornbracht goes back over 30 years. FIL is the latest example of that extraordinary collaboration.

1. Cielo - Milano

Eighty years after Charles Percival Hart put his name above the door of a builders and plumbers merchant in South London, C.P. Hart has arguably its most exciting year of new product launches. The Mutevole furniture collection is an undoubted highlight, with its bold use of mixed materials and colours. These can be specified in hundreds of combinations across cabinets, draws and doors, and surfaces. Combined with the bold geometry of the design, it is a true original from Italian makers, Karol. Equally innovative is Narciso from Cielo of Italy.

Narciso is a washbasin and steel-framed stand integrated with a make-up desk, complete with fold-down mirror and beauty case. Again, it can be personalised to create a highly individual unit. The washbasin is available in 16 colours, the frame can be matt black or brushed bronze, the make-up case can lacquered or natural wood. Accessories include a lateral towel rail and a leather laundry bag. Artelinea’s new Dama range was one of the hits of Salone del Mobile, the Milan furniture fair, blending Nordic design with Italian flair.

2017 will be a vintage year for new brassware. C.P. Hart have launched a luxurious new marble-bodied collection made in Italy called Marmo. Petracer’s new Aquadolce brassware is inspired by the glamour of classic perfume bottles, and Landmark by Samuel Heath offers industrial style with glamorous metallic finishes. 80 YearsOf C.P. Hart

1937 was not a promising year to start a new business. With a stuttering economy and an uncertain future, South London builder Charles Percival Hart nevertheless decided to establish himself as a builders and plumbers merchant. Encouraged by a house-building boom, and his own innate understanding of the needs of the trade, Charles opened the first of his London Road outlets. Together with his wife, a natural entrepreneur and trader, he quickly became known for expertise and service. His two sons, John and Tom, soon joined the business and looked for opportunities to expand. It was the acquisition of the railway arches behind Waterloo station that proved a turning point. In the late 1960’s the London Development Council was still regenerating bomb-damaged areas of

South London. Five C.P. Hart’s had to close to make way for a grand new project at Elephant & Castle (now itself being regenerated). In a desperate search for large enough premises, the two brothers finally stumbled across the Waterloo arches. All they saw was empty wine racks, as the space was being vacated by Unwins, the wine and spirits merchant. Somehow they had the vision to see a bathroom showroom – as well as a trade counter, a warehouse and a workshop. Forty years later C.P. Hart has fourteen showrooms, including its flagship at Waterloo, where it has won multiple awards for its recent expansion. And eighty years after Charles Hart staked his name and reputation on a fledgling business, we remain faithful to his belief in expertise and service.

Hart’s Approved Installer programme is intended to remove any doubt over your choice of installer. Our Approved Installers have all undergone background checks, and must meet standards of care, service and behaviour. They are

given training on new and complex products. All have their work regularly scrutinised by our Installer Manager, who can intervene on the rare occasion problems arise.

The process is very simple. Just talk to your C.P. Hart sales consultant, who will make initial contact with the installers for you and request quotes. You can then choose from a short-list of Approved Installers, knowing that each has the skills and professionalism to fit perfect bathroom.

To give a tiled wall or fl oor maximum impact in the bathroom, the planning and design can be as important as the selection of the tile itself. On a simple level, we are seeing many rectangular tiles fi tted in an offset brick pattern vertically rather than horizontally. It can make bathrooms in apartments which don’t have generous head-height feel more spacious, or can just create a interesting juxtaposition to the long, fl at profi les of furniture and inset baths.
