THE WHEEL SPEAKS ON 2013 – Save The Children 2013
Friday is sometimes recognized as the last day of the working week. We've all at one time or another simply let our guard down in relief when this day comes upon us. Across the entire nation people are going through so many things and quite truthfully none of us are exempt. The Trayvon Martin Trial in which the entire especially African American community has been paying very close attention to and the Aaron Hernandez indictment which all followed the controversy surrounding the Voting Rights Acts decision. Life as we've come to know it has changed and we must face the reality of consciously as a collective people make adjustments as individuals in order to survive. All people whether we face the reality of this fact or not won't work together this is true. But the danger of contamination and especially contagion is more than probable when we continue to waste time fooling ourselves. It's quite simple not necessarily everyone would love a better life some are driven and have a goal set where the objective is sadly misery. A lot of people are suffering and many because of what others are saying and doing maliciously with intent to hurt even individuals they were once acquainted with (family-‐friend-‐business, etc). Life will not miraculously change suddenly and those with evil in their hearts will suddenly see the light but as individuals it is our responsibility to stay clear of those who we know for a fact mean nothing but harm to us, the sadly do exist. Love is almost perceive today as if it's comparable to being imbalanced because in most instance you're standing alone especially when you claim love in your actions. Many people speak loudly and write in abundance on society media sites and networks where instant acknowledgement is almost therapeutic to some. But the real work at the end of the day has nothing to do with what we'll sometimes expect from others it's all up to you. The way we love in our actions and gestures not necessarily for any audience it starts within us. They'll be people who'll read this and laugh or even disregard it in all due respect and that's fine and these maybe some of the same people who may have already given up. Marvin Gaye wrote a song years ago called "Save the Children" it wasn't very popular at all and for a reason and that's because some people just don't want to hear it. Sadly now we're living it and please don't mistake this for a sermon of any kind or speech. And as Marvin so eloquently states in the song "they'll come a time when I look at the world, it fills me with sorrow...children today, really going to suffer tomorrow". Our todays shouldn't imprison our babies and children's tomorrows. With this being said as we arrive on yet another Friday let's somehow thing about maybe what we can do every Saturday or Sunday morning in our communities. Meetings and speeches being given by the same people over and over again have and won't prove or do anything they're useless.
Looking into the eyes of people just as committed as you no stages no fanfare catching these kids the same way me and my brothers got snatched away from the bosom of the devil when we were kids. I don't remember any politician having anything to do with that I remember especially the people in my neighborhood. Made no difference what kind of job they didn't have or worked everyday the last thing a young kids thinking about on a Saturday morning is discriminating particularly against anyone trying to help. I remember my mother and other mothers or fathers in the neighborhood knowing each and every kid in the neighborhood by name. One thing I am very appreciative of is when I was in the area I lived in for almost 3 years I knew every kid in the area from 5 thru 20 years old and they surely knew me. I expected nothing and only wanted one thing in return and that was for them to know I was there every day. On Sundays I cleaned the streets everyday that the city wouldn't thoroughly clean and sometimes people would look at me like I was crazy. But during the time I spent on Sunday cleaning I always kept one thing next to me and I am pretty sure every kid saw this as well. I keep my Bible right in sight because whatever most of perceive to be hard work and getting our hands dirty can't even compare to sacrifices that have been made for each one of us. Guilty is a word that won’t be used especially when a mirror is held directly in ones face but how many times, I repeat how many times will especially people elected to be held accountable be able to do the same thing? People who were removed from positions for a reason are then appointed back into the same power they abused? Over and over again in cities all around the nation the same thing happens over and over again problems aren’t just recycled so are politics and the people chosen specifically to become a part of it have been for reason and it should never be forgotten. Almost more than 3 years ago I met a brilliant individual driven not to fail and I was pretty sure he wouldn’t because he was meticulous at well rehearse at everything. I work closely day and night with him to develop a program to benefit young men and one day he told me just like this. “If you stick with me I guarantee a 6 figure salary only thing you need to do is stick with me because I won’t loose”. Truthfully even back than and what actually inspired my working with this type individual was it was obvious losing wasn’t an objective. But sadly if winning means to administer welts to the backs of each and everyone in order to make a vision reality I’ll choose (which I did) to pass. And in time as closets open widely and people are expose not only for what they do behind close doors but who they truly are solace may be found but once again it will be at the expense of the people.
And in many especially urban communities nationally that’s the problem the disingenuously deceptive individuals that exist right in our communities who will have and continue to sell everything out. And their scent is concealed by the many gratuities and they’ve been smart enough to give to those who’ve bought into the same Willie Lynch like behavior. And what’s very or should be very obvious hopefully by now is that a totally different approach must be taken in order to weed out these type individuals because greed will always supersede need. The continuance of sitting around pretending as if backdoor lobbyist don’t exist will guarantee one thing they’ll live long and prosperous lives stepping on the collective backs of communities throughout the nation. These individuals need not to be named because everyone knows exactly who they are but are fearful of them decisions are made and livelihoods are paved by these people. And it’s pretty apparent that after the dust clears on most magic shows called campaigns when they conclude it becomes painfully obvious that the new ride might be even bumpier than that of the previous one contrary to the hype. Friendship has proven time and time again to be a distraction in most cases when politics are involved and it will never change whether we want to face this reality or not. Like an itch people sometimes have a tendency to believe that the temporary comfort of a scratch although it is soothing will make us forget the itch. Itches eventually becomes rashes and are proven to be contagious so watch out with whom you make contact with or especially touch. It's time to stand together a once in a while meeting or candlelight visual or parade or ceremony to celebrate anything means absolutely nothing. Politics will never transform a community the people will it's about cultivation not administration growth is nature not enforced. Cities will change but be careful bloodlines might disappear as well if we continue to trust in what people have branded any individual(s) to represent.
