Dear Members and Supporters,

Wow! Thanksgiving came and went for 2019. During the many years I worked in retail, a late Thanksgiving always made for a crazy holiday shopping season. We are looking forward to what’s to come at the Florence Douglas Center during the month of December and the exciting plans we have for the New Year. The Taxi Scrip Program is moving away from paper tick-ets and toward a credit card format. If you have any ques-tions, our friendly staff will be available to assist you with the change. Beginning 01/01/20, riders will not be using taxi scrip books. Our new “My Senior Center” check-in system is working. You will be receiving your scan card to check in when you are here for a class, seminar or events at the Center. You will be notified when to pick up your scan card. The Cen-ter staff has been diligent behind the scenes to make sure everything is up and ready for you. Since we have experienced a PG&E Power shut off, it is critical for all of us to be prepared. Get to know your neighbors and exchange contact information with them. Be prepared with your “go bag” and important items you need to take with you. If you missed the Emergency Preparedness Workshop on 11/25/19, stop by Participant Services to pick up your Emergency Preparedness packet. Check out the schedule of Holiday hours posted around the Center and on the front page of the newsletter. I will be here from 12/27/19 through 12/31/19 for social gather-ings, games, and other fun we have for your enjoyment. Plan to stop by as our complimentary coffee is always on. The Center’s menu of regular and new activities is full and beneficial for you. As something new in the lineup of Monthly Socials with dinner and entertainment, we will be kicking off the New Year with a luncheon social on Satur-day, January 25, 2020.

Good Things,

Peter Wilson Executive Director
