A “Quality Assurance Process Improvement” bulletin board has been started on the Creighton Center 4th floor near the main nurses’ station on Potomac. QAPI is a regulatory component of Skilled Nursing Facilities. Information on this bulletin board will be used as an additional way to educate staff on the program and encourage participation.

Collington’s Assisted Living Controlled Dangerous Substances Registration was renewed this week. The Office of Provider Engagement & Regulation (OPER) formerly known as the Office of Controlled Substances Administration (OCSA), enforces the Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) Act and ensures the availability of drugs for legitimate medical purposes. CDS permits are issued to practitioners and establishments that administrate, prescribe, dispense, and distribute controlled substances. In order for Collington’s nurses in the Creighton Center to perform their duties, a CDS permit is required. These permits are valid for a period of 3 years. (The Skilled Nursing CDS permit was renewed in September of 2018). These permits are kept under glass in the bulletin boards through the neighborhoods in the Creighton Center.

STEP UP!

SKIPJACK REGATTA With Mother’s Day just a few weeks away, you know that Memorial Day is not far behind. That means that Collington’s Skipjack Regat-ta with racing radio-controlled boats is also fast approaching. We still could use a few skippers (lessons provided - easy, I’m told). I for one will take the challenge. Certainly, you would like to take home the trophy awarded at the Commodore’s Ball. Who knows, me might even have a cameo visit from an Annapolis Hypo. We could also use some assistance to help repair the boat transfer trail-er. Where are all you handy folks? For questions or to sign up call Sue Regen x7367 or Lois Brown x5081.

New Broadcast Keep your television channel set on 972 on Wednesday, May 2nd at about 2:00 pm. Broadcast live from our Auditorium, Justin Reaves and our new resident Katie Basquin will be sharing a conversation you won’t want to miss. If you do miss this event on 972, it will be available to stream on the internet. Visit collingtonresidents.org and look at the left hand column under Collington Publications for “Recorded Auditorium Events.” Call 2214 for the password.

Housing Leader Workshop There was a workshop this past Wednesday where communication was one area discussed. The conversation was spirited and under-scored the diverse ways we absorb information. Find your Housing Leader and let her/him know your thoughts and suggestions.

Lois Brown, RA President

TELEPHONE DIRECTORY SUPPLEMENT KEEP THIS PAGE! It has the latest new or corrected information that came in after the JANUARY 2019 edition of our Telephone Directory was printed, so that we can contact even our newest residents. This supplement is a cumulative list of changes since JANUARY 1, 2019. Each month, remove the old supplement and attach this new one to your JANUARY 2019 Telephone Directory, until the next full Directory is issued.

PLEASE CHECK YOUR OWN INFORMATION, and send corrections or changes to [email protected], or call Charlotte Melichar at 7224 to add your change to the Supplement.

All these phone numbers are in area code 301, except when otherwise shown. When dialing from one Collington phone to another, only the “extension” (the last four digits) is required.
