Help a Veteran Local VA representative, Brent Temple, is tasked with helping homeless veterans in our area find affordable housing. The Catholic Center community is helping Brent acquire the necessary furnishings for these vets. Do you have any of the following household furnishings that you would be willing to donate for this worthy cause? Dining or side tables, dining chairs, recliners, pots & pans, etc. We need useful items, rather than decorative! Please call Larry Dempsey at 706-769-6852 if you can help. Larry will coordinate the pick up of your items to assist a veteran in need. PLEASE SEE PAGE 2 FOR INFO ON THE VETERANS DAY MASS.
CATHOLIC CENTER BEREAVEMENT GROUP
Grief is a normal, natural, and necessary response to a significant loss. We are continuing our ministry group at the Catholic Center to offer comfort and support for individuals who are going through the
grieving process. The ministry will be facilitated by Benedicte Milward and Mary Ellen Quinn, members of the Catholic Center Community. To accommodate different schedules, there will be two groups: 1.) Mondays from 6pm to 7pm, starting on Nov. 2, 2015. Location: The Library and occasionally the Upstairs Apartment. 2.) Wednesdays from 10:30am to 11:30am, starting on November 4, 2015. Location: The Library If you are grieving the loss of a loved one, we want you to know that you are not alone on your journey to healing. Please join this group of caring and compassionate members for help and support. All are welcome. For more information, please contact the Center office.
COATS FOR KIDS DRIVE The Knights of Columbus will be collecting coats and cash donations for our annual Coats for Kids drive. We will have Knights collecting after Masses the next two weekends. A
donation of $18.33 will buy a coat for a child who needs one this winter. We will also accept lightly used coats for children and adults. Thank you in advance for your generosity. The children really appreciate the donations. “… When I was naked you clothed me.” For more information please contact John Steffl at 706-338-5551.

ANNUAL DENNY TOWERS THANKSGIVING DINNER
The UGA Catholic Center will be hosting our 20th annual Thanksgiving dinner at Denny Towers on Sunday, November 22 at 1:00 p.m. As is the tradition, we will be serving the seniors that live
there a traditional Thanksgiving feast of turkey with all the trimmings and LOTS of delicious pies! Many hands make light work, so we are asking for volunteers to help with purchasing food items, cooking, setting up and transporting the food from the Catholic Center to Denny Towers, serving, and cleaning up. If you are interested in helping – and kicking off your holiday season on a very positive note! – please contact Cathy Clutter at (706)255-1033 or at [email protected].
CATHOLIC CENTER MISSION STATEMENT
The Catholic Center at the University of Georgia is a
Eucharistic Community that seeks to live the gospel of
Jesus Christ in the tradition of our Roman Catholic faith
and the spirit of St. Francis. As Christian disciples we are
charged to answer Christ’s call for compassion by becoming
instruments of peace, charity and justice. We seek to stand
in solidarity with the poor, the stranger, the alienated and to
collaborate with those who serve them in local and global
communities. We endeavor to respect a universe
created by God in Love.

“The new life, received in baptism, is not subjected to corruption nor to the power of death. For one who lives in
Christ, death is the passage of the earthly pilgrimage to the heavenly homeland, where the Father welcomes all his
children, "from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and tongues," as we read today in the Book of Revelation. For this reason, it is very significant and appropriate that, after
the feast of All Saints, the liturgy makes us celebrate tomorrow the commemoration of all the deceased faithful.”

COMPOST WITH US!!
Attention all: The Catholic Center has started a composting bin that will be dropped off weekly at UGarden. It is located on the back porch of the center hall right outside the door. In an effort to live in a closer relationship with God's creation, we hope that you consider where your waste is going and that all "waste" is not
meant to be wasted and can be returned to the earth. We will accept your compost from home (no meat, animal by-products (egg-cept shells), or processed food such as pasta or bread). Any fruit and vegetable scraps/peels, coffee filters/teabags, and other organic plant material accept. If you are interested in helping dropping off compost or volunteering with UGarden, contact Suzie Henderson at [email protected] or 845- 499-1166. Thank you!!!
