DECEMBER 24, FORTH WEEK OF ADVENT 2017
“Building the City of God”
As our new Church year begins with the season of Advent,
we reflect on the many changes that have taken place this past year, personally, and in our world,
that have created barriers between ourselves and God. Advent is the perfect time to focus our energies on
removing those obstacles that prevent us from recognizing God’s presence and our role in
building up the city of God. We won’t build alone, but instead we will work
TOGETHER to fill this city with truth, peace, patience, kindness
and hospitality.
No its’ not, it’s Christmas Eve! No it’s the fourth week of advent. We have less than 12 hours to ac-
complish our ministry of ‘building’ the City of God. We have a lead carpenter. Let us show joy and glad-ness in our hearts, so that others will follow by our
example of being Christ like. This Christmas and the coming year, may God be fixed in our lives, where
ever we are. “God is light; in him there is no darkness.
Let us walk in his light, his children, one and all. LET US BUILD THE CITY OF GOD!

Stewardship – A way of Life December 24, 2017 - 4th Sunday of Advent “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!”- LUKE 1:28 Faith is a gift from God. Take time in silence and thank Him for all the gifts He has given you. Try to set aside any anger or resentment you have and really open your heart to receive the gift of God’s mercy and forgiveness. We can’t give what we don’t have. We need to receive God’s mercy and forgiveness first before we can give it to others. From The Stewardship Commission

St. Mary’s Tables and Chairs
We are happy to allow parish groups the use of tables
and chairs in our different parish facility locations.
Please do check with the parish office before moving
tables and chairs from a location and before setting
up early for your event or meeting. We keep a calen-
dar of location uses and times and try diligently to
keep it organized. Thanks for your help.
Good Gestures and Preventative Practices at Mass It’s that time of year when we are more conscious of the spread of germs. You notice that the altar servers and I discontinue handholding during the Lord’s Prayer, and offer a “peace sign” at the Sign of Peace. Please consider doing the same out there in the pews! We pour less wine in preparation for Communion knowing that less people drink from the chalice in the winter as they may have colds While the seasonal allergies typical for Spring and Fall aren’t prevalent now, some of us deal with breathing issues and even asthma-like symptoms induced by scents at Mass, like incense, and most especially the effects of perfume and cologne in high doses. Please consider the fact that those around us can be more sensitive to our aroma than we think. Please, whether you are a Eucharistic Minister*, Lector, Cantor, Usher or fellow parishioner, consider the possibility that those you serve or those around you may be allergic to perfume or cologne and highly aromatic hand lotions. Thank you very much, Father John “Old Spice” Meyer *Hand lotions as well as perfumes and colognes can easily be transferred to our communicants even after using hand sanitizer.
We had such a great turnout of families for the
Pictorial Directory….thank you to all who
participated! Editing is now complete and the
final proof has been sent back to universal
Church Directories for printing. The
directories will be sent to the parish after the
first of the year and will be distributed once
they arrive. This has been a long, yet
rewarding process and we are excited for our
church family to see the final project.

On Care for Our Common Home
(Laudato Si') is the new appeal
from Pope Francis addressed to
"every person living on this plan-

written with both hope and resolve, looking to our com-
mon future with candor and humility.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, we have been granted so many wonderful experiences in our lives, the sweet and grati-fying touch of God’s forgiveness, his presence beside us and his closeness especially in the moments of greatest need….What is it that pleases God most? Forgiving his children, having mercy on them, so that they may in turn forgive their brothers and sisters, shining as a flame of God’s mercy in the world. This is what pleases God most.” - Pope Francis.
