We have a rich history that reflects a

commitment to preparing students for an ever-

changing world.• Founded by the Sisters of Loretto—Catholic nuns

• Established as one of the first women’s colleges west of the Mississippi River

• Became coeducational in 1962

• Transferred ownership from Catholic Church to lay board of directors in 1967

• Continue to operate today as a private, non-profit institution unaffiliated with any religious institution
