Kinder Morgan’s Pipelinefrom The Office of MP Jim Eglinski,

Member of Parliament for Yellowhead

Oil is being sold at up to 50% discount to the United States because we do not have anywhere else to sell it. The U.S. sells it back to Canada through New Brunswick refineries at the full market price.

The regulation of interprovincial pipelines falls under federal jurisdiction. The Trans Mountain Pipeline has passed environmental reviews and regulatory hurdles. It was approved by this federal Liberal Government. The project is under serious threat as the dispute between British Columbia and Alberta continues to escalate - putting Canadian jobs across the coun-try at risk. British Columbia’s celebrated vineyards and wineries will lose business as Alberta restricts imports, and the deteriorating relationship between the two provinces threatens a deal that would give Alberta access to clean, renewable BC energy. This cannot continue.

The Trans Mountain expansion is in the national in-terest. It will create tens of thousands of jobs, add billions to the economy, and help fund important so-cial programs. Where is the Prime Minister on this? He should be championing this federally approved pipeline. Due to a lack of federal leadership, this dispute continues to escalate, putting Canadian jobs across the coun-try at risk.Although the Minister of Natural Resources claims he will not accept any unusual or unnecessary de-lays, construction should have started in November 2017. Every day is a delay worth millions of dollars.

Every day is a delay for thousands of jobs.

Last week, Conservatives requested an emergency debate on the Trans Mountain pipeline project. This request was denied.

On Monday, February 12, our ‘Opposition Day Mo-tion’ called on the Prime Minister to prioritize the con-struction of the Trans Mountain Expansion Project and use all tools at his disposal to mitigate damage from the current interprovincial trade dispute. If this motion is adopted, the Liberals will have until noon on February 15th to table their plan in the House. Conservatives believe that the independent, scien-tific, evidenced-based decision-making process that the Trans Mountain Expansion project went through clearly showed that the pipeline could be expanded safely.

Warburg Public Library will be closed Saturday, February 17 so Families can celebrate the Family Day weekend. Family Day is Monday, February 19, Staff and Board Members wish everyone a safe and fun Family Day! Non-Fiction: 1,500 Stretches by Hollis Liebman, a new year and a resolution? This book could help you keep that resolution, it is a complete guide to flexibility and movement. Fiction: The Goodbye Gift by Amanda Brooke, I have read this book and it is definitely a good read! It mixes a bit of yesterday with the present day, showing the way our lives are all connected and what happens in the past does effect our future. I enjoyed this book so much that I wanted to see the end result, but did not want the book to end! I hope everyone had a great valentine’s and wish everyone a great Family Day on Monday, February 19 Neil Gaiman perfectly describes what’s happening in digital times: “Google can bring you back 100,000 an-swers, a librarian can bring you back the right one.”

Breton Museum Celebrates Black History Month

From Allan Goddard

Join the Breton Museum as they celebrate Black History Month at the Breton Faith Coven-ant Church on Sunday February 25, starting at 1:30. This year’s event marks the twenty-fourth anniversary of the museum celebrating Black History Month. Over the past twenty-four years the Breton Museum has hosted a variety of events to celebrate the history and achieve-ments of Black Canadians and our commun-ity’s early history.

This year the museum is pleased to screen a National Film Board presentation “Mighty Jerome”. The documentary follows the life of Harry Jerome, a promising track and field star headed to the 1960 Olympics in Rome until a devastating leg injury gave reason to believe his racing days were over. Jerome was not just a champion on the track but his remark-able spirit and determination was deemed “the greatest comeback in track and field history”. The film will be of interest to sports fans, his-tory buffs and anyone with an appreciation for courage and redemption. Admission to the screening is by way of a good will donation to the museum.

Partnering with the Breton Faith Coven-ant Church again this year the museum will be conducting a food drive for the Breton Food Bank as part of the program. Please bring do-nations of non- perishable food items or mon-etary donations to assist this valuable service in the Breton community.

After the program the museum will serve light refreshments and a time to socialize at the Church. The museum will also be open for viewing after the program. Mark February 25 on your calendar and enjoy an afternoon of family entertainment. 1 800 676 3383
