GRATITUDE CHANGES THINGS… A few weeks ago, I preached on Luke 17:11-19. Recap: Jesus healed ten lepers, and nine of them did exactly what he told them to do (proceed to the priest to be ritually cleansed, then return to their families and life as usual). One did something else first. He returned to Jesus and falling at Jesus’ feet, thanked him. Jesus pronounced him not only healed but made whole (bodily, and emotionally and spiritually well). That man went away praising God because he and his life were forever changed! Gratitude changes things for sure! The first thing it changes is the one who’s grateful! In that worship service, you were given an index card and asked to write on each side of it something for which you are grateful and to put the card in a place where you would see it each day. Did you? If you did, and if it affected you (brought a smile to your heart and lips, lifted your spirit, inspired you to write a thank you note or to do something for someone else, etc.), please share that with me. You can email me at [email protected], or call or text me. I’d love to hear about it! Also, I’d love to share it with others, so if you do send it to me, please let me know if I have your permission to share it. Gratitude journals have become popular in recent years. I highly recommend using one, and November is a great month to start one. It can be as simple as a plain spiral notebook like your children used in school, or you can find pretty ones made for this specific purpose complete with a bible verse for each day. What matters is that you use it, let your gratitude permeate your being, and remember to say thank you to Christ and those through whom Christ works! Blessings,
Pastor Sheree

Daylight Savings Time ends Sunday,
November 3rd at 2:00 am!!
Don’t forget to set your clocks BACK one hour
before you go to bed on Saturday night.
New Newsletter Delivery System
This is our first month sending out the newsletter electronically instead of
through the regular mail system. We hope you find it just as informative and
enjoyable as you have in the past.
We believe this will allow us to continue to be good stewards of God’s money as we try
delivering the newsletters in a different, less expensive way. We believe the potential savings
will be at least $450 per year by sending electronically instead of mailing out newsletters.
Judy has found a way to set the newsletter up in an email format with links to the newsletter
and calendar on our website at the top of the email so you do not have to navigate the website
if you’re not comfortable doing so. Those who have emails we able to see this new format last
month.
There will be paper copies available in the narthex/foyer of the sanctuary for you to pick up if
you don’t have access to the internet or simply prefer a paper copy. The Care Givers will take
them to our homebound. If this is not a suitable option for someone you know, we have a short
list of those still requiring emailed copies. Please let Judy in the office know so we can add
that person to the mailing list.

by those who receive assistance through C.A.M. and we can help stock
their shelves with these items during the holiday season.

Giving Tree located in the Sanctuary Narthex beginning Sunday, December 1st.

TRUNK or TREAT THANK YOU!
THANK YOU to everyone who made monetary donations toward the pur-chase of religious prizes that were given to the children at Trunk or Treat!
And, a special thank you as well to everyone who helped in preparation for the event and during the event! Your support was very much appreciated!

Memorial Blessings
Memorial donations are given in memory or in honor of a church member. Each gift is acknowledged with a note to the family and the ones giving the memorial. The name is then written in the permanent memorial book located in the church foyer.
Norma Richardson and Vivian Harrell Memorial Co-Chairmen
The following are the names of those for whom we have received memorial donations in September and October 2019.
In Memory of: Linda Patten
Thank you for your support of our long time friend, Signs of Hope
for the month of October. Signs of Hope is a facility/ministry for deaf
and disabled adults of all ages located on Harper Road right here in
Kerrville.
The mission emphasis for the month of
November is the Hill Country Veteran’s Center
here in Kerrville at 411 Meadowview Lane. This
center opened in April of 2013, with the Food
Bank opening in March of 2014.
They provide services to all branches of military veterans, including
homeless vets, those with PTSD and those who are employed.
Because the center is operated by military veterans, the support
system is uniquely tailored to meet the needs of vets and their
families. They offer regular support groups for men and women
transitioning home after deployments and active duty, as well as their
spouses and children. Volunteers are also on hand to lend support to
family members left behind after their loved ones leave home on
assignment. Thank you, in advance, for supporting this
ministry and its outreach in this community.

Emmaus News Corner #55
Wow! What a great group of Babe Chicks and Hill Country Emmaus Community members gathered for a barbecue dinner and worship service on October 7th. Two-thirds of the women on the Women’s Walk came to celebrate with the Hill Country Community. Let’s keep that amazing attendance at future gatherings. Our next Hill Country Community Gathering will be November 4th at First United Methodist Church. Fried chicken will be provided. Bring a side dish and/or dessert to complete the meal. The meal will begin at 6:00 in the gym and the service will be at 7:00 in the sanctuary. Come be a part of this gathering and enjoy fried chicken, fellowship and worship. See you on November 4th at First UMC at 6:00 P.M.
United Methodist Women
Our next meeting of the UMW will be on Tuesday, November 12th, at 1:30 p.m. in the church parlor. Please join us for our annual Thank Offering Program. Unit members are reminded to bring their Thank Offering boxes to the meeting.
Thank you to the members who provided lunch on October 15th for the
students and staff at the Christian Women’s Job Corps! Thank you, also, to all those church members who faithfully save Box Tops for Education and Tyson labels to send to The McCurdy American Indian School. Please continue to place them in the envelope in the hall next to the narthex. We look forward to seeing you on the 12th for our program and Christian fellowship fun. All are welcome!
Autumn Blessings,
Louise Rush

Christ Crew has started off the fall with new attendees, new leadership, and full of
ambition and hope. We are excited to share what we have been working on with the
congregation and want to give many thanks to all of your gifts and support. We started
off the fall with helping out with the Trunk or Treat. But now we look forward to the
Holiday season with many opportunities before us.
We will be helping with the Hanging of the Greens on November
24th. Please come out and support us as we will also be participating
the Kerrville Lighted Parade on November 23rd. Christ Crew will be
selling Poinsettias again this year, so watch the Sunday Bulletin for
order forms.
We will remember that through God all things are possible as we
tackle these endeavors. Grace, Peace, and Love be with you.
