Greater Casa Grande Chamber of Commerce supports continuation of Casa Grande
Elementary School District Budget Override
The Greater Casa Grande Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors has approved a recommendation from the Government Affairs Committee and Executive Com-mittee to support the continuation of the Casa Grande Elementary School District budget override in the Novem-ber 6, 2018 election based on the following information:
A yes vote for the maintenance and operation budget override election will continue the existing override and will not increase taxes.
Budget Overrides are allowed every five years and must be passed by voters. Each Casa Grande Ele-mentary School District budget override has been supported by the chamber and has been passed by voters.
Hiring of teachers is very competitive. If the measure does not pass, the district will have to shift money and teachers’ salaries may be reduced.
There may be cuts to teacher salaries if the continu-ance of the current budget override does not pass.
