*Call to Worship
Come with hope to this celebration of worship.
We come, thirsty for springs of living water.
Gather as servants of Jesus Christ.
Christ will feed us with the bread of life.
Be ready to receive more than you can ask.
God will equip us to live in God’s kingdom.
*Opening Hymn #735 “I Need Thee Every Hour” NEED
*Prayer of Confession O God, we confess that we have not fulfilled the trust you have given us
as servants of Christ. Our possessions have become more important to
us than following Jesus. We look all around us in search of bread to fill
us, never realizing it is you alone that has what we need. Forgive us, and
draw us closer to you. Free us from false gods that enslave us and
diminish us from the potential you have placed in us. Feed us with your
daily bread. Amen.

SERVING TODAY
The Apostle's Creed (Ecumenical Version)
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
A special thank-you to Rev. Dr. Carolyn Visser for her willingness to help FPC out this morning as Rev. Nathan Esser needed to be gone for funerals and Rev. Pat Hammond is
at the University of Denver for Parents’ Weekend with Haley. Nathan’s dear friend, Scott Hauser, died Thursday, Feb. 16 and his grandmother died Tuesday, Feb.21.

This month’s offering will be used to fund scholarships for children in the area of Honduras to which we have sent work/mission teams. School is
free, but supplies, uniforms, and transportation can be prohibitively
expensive. $125 is enough to help one child for one year. The offering will be
added to the church’s existing Honduras Education Fund.
Presbyterian Women
Offer Adams Scholarship
The Adams Scholarship at FPC originated in 1966 to honor Dr. and Mrs. Clarence Adams. Dr. Adams was senior pastor at First Presbyterian from 1939 -1966. Presbyterian Women created the scholarship in 1966 and have continued to support it through an annual fundraising event. Memorials, bequests, and individual contributions are also welcomed as an ongoing opportunity to support our future Christian leaders.
PW supports this scholarship to encourage men and women to prepare for roles in Chris-tian service (ministry, mission work, church music, Christian education, etc.). Initial consideration is given to those from our church, and thereafter to outside applicants.
Scholarship forms are available in our church office or on our church website: http://fpcsiouxfalls.org/reswomen.html. Completed applications are due May 1, 2017. If you have any questions, please contact Jackie Hove ([email protected]). ——Adams Scholarship Committee Jackie Hove, Julia Lufkins, and Becky Hillestad

FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH VISION STATEMENT
First Presbyterian Church shares a vision to be present in the Sioux Falls area as the visible face of Christ. In this vision, the
words of our mission statement take on clear direction and added dimension. We connect, serve, and grow with God and others
within our congregation so that we may in turn connect, serve, and grow with God and others beyond ourselves, knowing that
even as we strive to bear the face of Christ in our relationships with our neighbors, we will find the face of Christ in the very
neighbors whom we serve.
As we equip ourselves to engage with people beyond our congregation, our church family will:
† experience unconditional love;
† celebrate God’s grace;
† grow in God's Word;
† mature in faith;
† cultivate spiritual gifts;
† affirm each other’s successes;
† support each other in difficult times; and
† experience the transforming power of the Christian faith.
To enable us to accomplish our shared mission, all of our members are called to engage individually and corporately in the
ministry of our church as they:
† participate regularly in worship services;
† pray for the church and for God's world;
† give faithful and regular financial support to First Presbyterian Church;
† participate in ministries inside First Presbyterian Church that encourage sustained connection and growth; and
† serve regularly in ministries outside our church family.
