HIS TEACHINGS

In a spiritual sense, Christ fed the people milk and bread

He gave them the law and taught the basic doctrine that they needed in order to overcome sin and death

By spreading his word, he opened the doorway to salvation to those that were willing to hear and obey

HIS TEACHINGS The word of God is not only available to his children

With God’s great mercy, EVERY individual has the opportunity to be saved

This opportunity is Christ’s grace

When he would teach, the multitudes of people that sat down to listen were not all children of God

Judas Iscariot was among the apostles yet he stilled betrayed Christ

The word of God, which is in the bible is now available to anyone to purchase

HIS FORGIVENESS

Christ to forgive us for our sins, which is a key component of mercy

We ask for forgiveness daily in our prayers for without it we cannot be save (Matthew 6: 9-13).

Our Savior has the power and will to forgive us of our sins (Matthew 9: 2-6, St. John 8: 3-11 & Luke 23: 39-43).

HIS SACRIFICE

Christ was sent down to this earth to die for our sins that we might have the precious gift of grace, a second chance to gain eternal life (Romans 5: 8-10 & 14-15, Hebrews 2: 9-18)

Christ becoming our sacrificial lamb was a great act of mercy that we will never be able to repay and grace is a free gift bestowed to everyone willing to receive it

HIS SACRIFICE

The world often misunderstands what grace really means

Many interpret grace as the opportunity to break God’s laws and to be forgiven no matter what as long as you proclaim that you believe in Christ

Is this true?....let us review the scriptures

SCRIPTURES REVEAL

James 2: 19

“Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.”

St. John 14: 15

“If ye love me, keep my commandments,”

FOLLOWING IN CHRIST’S FOOTSTEPS

We must possess the virtue of mercy just as Christ does

We don’t have the power to heal like Christ nor can we save an individual from eternal damnation

What can we do to showcase mercy?

COMPASSION FOR THE POOR

Christ commands us to showcase compassion to those that are less fortunate (Matthew 25: 34-40)

Despite the scriptures, the current day attitude towards the poor does not support this belief

The sons of men have become consumed with greed and have turn their backs on the poor

TEACHING THE WORD OF GOD

God has set up stewards in the church and leaders that have gain understanding of the word and can teach the truth to others

Teaching the truth to others is an example of mercy because when one comes into the knowledge of the truth it provides them the opportunity to repent for their sins & learn to obey God (Matthew 5: 18-19 & 2 Timothy 2: 24-25)

FORGIVING THE TRESPASS OF OTHERS

Just as Christ forgives us for our sins we must also forgive others that might offend or hurt us

How often should we forgive others?

Let us look at the scripture (Matthew 18: 21-35)
