List of Animals
Tigers are the largest of the big cats. The Bengal Tiger, shown below, is the
second largest of the species, weighing 480 pounds and reaching a length of around 9 feet.
The tigers are the most endangered of the big cat species.
Tigers
Female lions often do most of the hunting and care taking of the cubs, compared to male lions.
A pride, or a group of lions, usually has no more than 2 males.
A male lions roar can be heard for up to 5 miles.
Lions
Cheetahs are the fastest land animal. They can go from 0-60 mph in only 3
seconds! Cheetahs are found in Eastern and
Southwestern Africa.
Cheetahs
Bears hibernate during the winter months. Before hibernation begins, they must eat
plenty of food, sometimes around 90 pounds a day, so they can store food and survive while hibernating.
Brown Bears, shown here, are also called Grizzly Bears.
Bears
Gorillas are the largest living primates. Gorillas normally walk by putting their feet
flat and walking on the knuckles of their hands.
Gorillas are very intelligent, capable of understanding spoken language and actually speaking with sign language, demonstrated in the video link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5RrORtDZuQ&feature=related
Gorillas
A male camel is called a bull; A female is called a cow.
Camels can go for days or weeks with little or no water or food.
Camels live in deserts, and are mostly found in Egypt.
Camels
There are more than 2,700 species of snakes in the world.
Garter Snakes are the most harmless snakes on earth.
The most dangerous snake on earth is Russell's Viper (pictured below).
Snakes
Penguins can walk faster than Humans. They spend most of their lives in water. They can hold there breathe for 20 minutes
under water. Also, Penguins waddle when they walk, as
shown in this video clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EP6GWt0-hbg&feature=related
Penguins
Sharks have been on Earth for around 400 million years!
On average, there are only about 100 shark attacks each year and only 10 of those result in a human death.
The most dangerous types of sharks are the Tiger, Bull, Mako, and Great White.
