3 Rottingdean Road CAMPS BAY 8005 15 May, 2015 Dear Parents and Players Enclosed please find details of the rugby tour to France in March, 2016. BACKGROUND: Our first private rugby tour to Argentina in 1985, turned out to be such a huge success that we have been inundated with requests for further tours. Subsequent tours have taken boys of various age groups to:

• France, England and Romania (1994)

• Italy (1995, 1998, 2001, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015)

• France (1993, 1997, 2000, 2004, 2007)

• Portugal and Spain (1999)

• Argentina (1985, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006) We believe that the above tours have been successful because of some of the following reasons:

• Good value for money. The boys see and do far more than the average tourist.

• Boys come from a whole host of schools and a tremendous camaraderie develops.

• We do not play to win at all costs. We go on tour to learn, to experience, to enjoy, and above all, to be good ambassadors for our school and our country.

• The exemplary behaviour and attitude of the boys of previous tours means that we are welcome anywhere at all times.

• The unconditional support of the principals and rugby coaches.

• We have built up a wonderful track record over the years as well as a network of contacts throughout the rugby playing world

COST OF TOUR: The tour cost is R29 950, subject to currency fluctuations, airfare increases and any other increase associated with such a tour. Please note that with the volatility of the Rand and the many external factors that are present, this price may change. We will, however, try our best to keep the costs as close to the quoted price as possible. The tour cost includes the following:

• Return airfares, airport taxes, departure and fuel tax.

• All transfers per 60-seater luxury bus. TV and toilet on board, driver costs including daily tips, meals and accommodation.

• Bus permits, fuel, fuel tax and parking in all cities and towns visited.

• Sightseeing, entrance fees where indicated.

• Standard Travel Insurance issued by Regent Insurance with limited Sports Cover.

• Gifts for venue organizers and club management.

• Branded kit of 2 rugby jerseys, tracksuit, kitbag, 2 pairs socks, 2 pairs shorts, 2 tour shirts.

• Four teachers’ costs: namely airfare, accommodation and general daily expenses.

• Bank charges and other commissions.

• Emergency kitty.

• Schengen Visa (excluding costs in processing of visa)

• Accommodation and visits in Istanbul Excluded are passports and spending money. Spending money is required for daily lunches as well as entertainment and shopping. Please complete the details form and fax or email the completed form to the writer. Once we have accepted the form and confirmed the rugby tour we will then ask for a deposit of R10000. This will cover the deposit on the air tickets as well as preliminary tour expenses. The balance of the tour monies will be paid in two sums during September 2015 and January 2016. Selection of the team is on a first come first served basis. So the earlier the form is received the better (see next section as well as the section on tour arrangements and practices). Monies received will be receipted. Note: No letters authorising fund-raising will be issued, nor will the group be involved in fund-raising as this is a privately organized rugby tour. TOUR PARTY AND SELECTION: The tour party will consist of 25 players and three teachers. However, should more players be available the tour party can be enlarged. Players must be born between the dates indicated on the cover page. This complies with the rules of the French Rugby Federation. TOUR AIMS: The aim of the trip is not only to play rugby but also of importance, is the educational aspect, meeting players, experiencing other cultures, and also learning to live and mix with other players and their families. ITINERARY AND LETTERS OF CONFIRMATION OF MATCHES AND ACCOMMODATION: The enclosed itinerary is a very full and enjoyable one. The visits to all the places chosen will be memorable. As teachers we are also aware that the visit will bring to reality much of what the boys have been taught at school.

The tour will have the blessing of SARU and the French Rugby Federation. As soon as the formal letters of acceptance from the clubs about our visit to them is concerned have been received I will forward them to you. ACCOMMODATION: Pupils will be hosted in private homes throughout the tour. In this way boys get to know their opposition as well as the Italian culture. This proves to be a great learning experience. PASSPORTS AND UNABRIDGED BIRTH CERTIFICATES: Parents are responsible for obtaining their son’s passport and unabridged birth certificates. For the visa application a valid South African passport is required. Temporary passports are not accepted for Schengen Visas. INSURANCE: A special Sport Insurance package is included in the tour price as well as the ordinary travel insurance. Details will be given at one of the follow-up meetings. Please note there is an excess on claims. TEAM SELECTION, TOUR ARRANGEMENTS AND PRACTICES: Arrangements for practices and meetings will take place once the tour party is named. Selection of the team is on a first come first served basis. There are no trials. At these meetings and practices all arrangements and tour details will be discussed as well as questions answered. TOUR MANAGEMENT: Messrs. Eban Tucker and Theuns van Schoor will lead the tour. Mr Tucker is a retired teacher and Mr van Schoor is a senior teacher at Paarl Boys’ High. Both are very experienced in the leading of tours both locally and overseas. Messrs Tucker and van Schoor are well versed French rugby having taken several tours to France previously. The teachers have coached rugby at all levels. Mr Tucker will be responsible for the administration of the tour. Mr van Schoor will be the coach as well as being responsible for the well-being of the tour party. Mr van Schoor has also coached rugby at Provincial and schools level and is the son of Ryk van Schoor, a former rugby Springbok. At present Mr van Schoor is the Western Province under 18 coach as well as the coach of SA under 16 and Paarl Boys’ High School Rugby Team.
