What is HCI?

Home Computing Initiative (HCI) is a user-friendly scheme made possible by the Government 1999 tax exemption on loaned computers

With built-in tax breaks, the scheme enables employers to provide cost-effective access to the latest IT for their employees to use at home - at a fraction of the retail price

Employer buys or leases PCs in bulk

Employer loans PC to employee (over 3 yrs)

£2500 benefit limit over 5 years (£500/year)

PCs and all accessories that rely on a PC, qualify

Employee repays by salary sacrifice (Gross)

Employee saves by paying less PAYE and National Insurance (& No VAT)

Employer saves by paying less employer National Insurance

(12.8% of salary sacrifice)

Employer can reclaim VAT (17.5%) and pass this benefit onto employee
