Inside this issue:

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.

Ecclesiastes 3:1

We are now entering a new year as well as a new season. For 2018,

there will be some “new” at River View. We will witness building B

being completely internally revamped, which means much needed

building improvements in the bible study class rooms, children’s

ministry area, and nursery. There will also be additional growth in

the area of safety and security improvements. The safety and security

team will be working hard to implement new policies and procedures

in 2018. The sound area and system will experience some upgrades as

well. These are just a few highlights.

There will also remain some constants. Evangelism and disciple

making are the lifeblood of any church family. These are not church

fads that come and go, but according to Jesus they are foundational.

We all must have gospel conversations on a daily basis and make

certain that those who trust Christ as their Savior are being disciples

who make disciples.

My prayer is that RVBC will be known as an evangelistic disciple

making church which is seeing the community being changed by

Christ Himself. He is willing, but we must make this a priority in our

own lives. Looking forward to this new season together!

Purpose of Education

Ministry

1. Reach people

2. Teach people

3. Minister to people

Education Ministry Ministry Leader - Gary Barker

Wise Men still seek Him. We are entering into the new year of 2018. The question is, are you wise? The joy of the Christmas season does not have to end. The wise men at the birth of Jesus traveled far in rugged conditions & at peril to their lives. Yet they were seeking the true meaning of Christmas, The King of Kings Christ Jesus! They set an example for us to follow. No matter how far or how hard the journey, they sought Jesus.

The great American five-star general Omar Bradley once said, “We’re living in a time when our achievement, our knowledge of science, has gone far beyond our power to control it. We have too many men of science and too few men of God. We’ve brought about brilliance without wisdom, power without conscience. We’re living in a time of nuclear giants and spiritual pigmies.”

Sound like our world doesn’t it. So, let’s ask the question again, are you wise? Do you seek Jesus?

Don’t let the truth of the Christ child escape your thoughts as we enter into this New Year the Lord is giving us. Matthew told us to seek first the kingdom of God & His righteousness. Jesus Christ is true wisdom. How wise are you? Jesus said seek & you will find!

Thank you Jesus! Isaiah 9:6

How are your tithes and offerings allocated?

What are tithes? According to the dictionary it is 1/10 of the

annual produce or earnings formerly taken as a tax for the

support of the church and clergy. In the Old Testament, it

was an obligatory 10% offering from the law of Moses.

An offering is a anything offered as a gift or a contribution

above the 10% tithe.

Tithes and offerings made with no special designation go to

support the items listed in our church budget, the General

Fund. This takes care of our regular monthly expenditures.

Designated funds are our Building and Cemetery accounts.

Those accounts have been approved by the church in a

regular business meeting and set up according to those

instructions.

The church will endeavor to honor all other special offerings

but reserves the right to use the money as the church deems

wise and appropriate.

A copy of the church budget and offering envelopes for 2018

can be picked up in your Bible Study class or the church

office.

The church family voted to pass 2018 recommended budget by 92%.

Safety and Security Team reminders:

Always check in and out your child with the nursery/children’s ministries. Never just

drop them off or pick them up without notice.

If you see any unusual activity on the church campus, please report it to someone.

If you have any domestic situations in your family, please inform one of our ministers.

In the case of a fire, immediately exit through the nearest exit. If you have children, they

will be moved outside to the rear of the building for you to meet there.

Our team is continually working to provide a safe place for you and your family to

worship our Lord!

The church family recently voted in favor of remodeling /

renovating building B. The total vote was 82.4 %.

Now that the building and grounds team has been directed by

the church family to work with the current church buildings,

this will occur in three phases.

Phase 1 - Remodel/Renovate Building B

Phase 2 - Expand and remodel the sanctuary

Phase 3 - Work to connect all buildings together

In addition to these three phases, you will also notice regular

upkeep and improvements being made on all buildings.

Timing - the building and grounds team will begin working

to receive more firm quotes from contractors. The team also

would like input from the church family on potential

improvements for building B. Timing will be communicated

as possible, but the current plan is to have building B

completed in 2018.
