Secretary’s Report Minutes of the March 7, 2016 Meeting, San Jacinto Region VCCA After enjoying a light supper in the Traders Village activity room, the meeting was called to order by Director, Clint Allred. Thanks to all who brought food. Old Business: After a motion to approve the Secretary’s Report of the February 6, 2016 Meeting, a second to that motion was made and the minutes printed in the Valve Clad-d-der were approved as written. Thanks to Cathy Sweet who wrote up the minutes in my absence. Chip Sweet gave the Treasurer’s Report. A motion to approve this report was made, seconded, and approved unanimously. Carolyn Couch presented a report on Membership. She read a list of the 23 members from 2015 who hadn’t paid their 2016 dues and encouraged each one of us to contact anyone they knew. Have them contact Carolyn right away. New Business: Bryan Felt, Activities Chair, said our next event and meeting will be Saturday, April 2nd at 10 AM at the Budweiser Plant, which opened in 1966. The guided tour will cost $10 per person and everyone must wear closed-toe shoes. A jacket is strongly recommended inside the building. Please RSVP to Bryan or Trish Felt by Wed. March 30th. On May 21st we will hold our meeting and enjoy a Fish Fry at Richard Conroy’s home in Trinity. More details to follow. The Annual Swap Meet is fast approaching, which is March 19-20th at Traders Village. Carolyn Pierson, Registration Chair, reported that she has sold 374 out of 409 spaces on concrete and 7 spaces on grass. Looks like participation by vendors is excellent this year. We have 4 golf carts secured at this time and need more. Richard Conroy said he’d bring one. Traders is providing one security person this year. Next we had a report from Don King, our Swap Meet Chairman. He has been busy calling members and getting volunteers for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Everyone’s help is needed and is essential to the success and smooth “running” of this project. It’s a lot of work, but it is also a lot of fun and we raise funds! Don King asked that those working on Saturday morning to come between 7 and 8 because vendors need to be checked in and shown to their spaces. At the Registration Desk, 2017 Swap Meet Flyers will be available, so vendors can book their favorite spaces this year for next year. Attendance at the March 7th meeting: Bill & Barbera Mancuso, Ray & Carolyn Pierson, Bob & Carolyn Couch, Richard Conroy, Rudy Alberth, Louie Baumann, Clint & Kathy Allred, Bryan Felt, Chip Sweet, Jim Perry, Hans Rasch, Don & Debbie King, Gary Groschke, Michael Howard, Don & Terry Cameron, Frank & Bernice Mellen, John Matejka, and Sheila Bradford Respectfully submitted, Sheila Bradford, Secretary of the San Jacinto Region VCCA

Budweiser

Houston Brewery Tour April 2, 2016 10:00 AM 775 Gellhorn Drive, Houston, TX 77029 The Houston Brewery is essential to delivering fresh beer to southern regions of the country including Arkansas, Louisiana,

Mississippi, Oklahoma

and Texas. The Houston Brewery offers an immersive experience, perfect for visitors of all ages. From the advanced brewing technology to the history displays, you will gain a better understanding of the historical significance of one of America’s oldest brewers. Opened in 1966, the Houston Brewery has quickly become one of our “greenest” breweries. The brewery gets some of its energy from landfill gas that is piped in six miles from the nearby McCarty Landfill. On average, the brewery sources approximately 30 percent of its energy needs from alternative energy. The brewery’s energy efficiency and conservation efforts also include an on-site bio-energy recovery system (BERS), where brewery wastewater can be recycled adding to our water conservation efforts. We will be taking the dayfresh tour. This eye-opening experience allows you to follow the making of Budweiser as well as special visits to the Brew House, Lager Cellar, Packaging Floor and Finishing Cellar. This experience lasts approximately 75 minutes. Tickets are $10 for guests 21+, $4 for guests aged 3-20, and. children 2 years old and younger are free. We will meet in the entrance area and purchase tickets there. We may split up into smaller groups depending on how strong are numbers are. Remember to wear closed toe shoes (a requirement for the tour) and bring a sweater or jacket as it gets around 40 degrees in some areas of the plant. This should be an awesome experience as The Budweiser Brewery Tours just started a year ago after a twenty plus years of no tours! They have meeting space available for a short meeting following the Tour and we can all venture off to a restaurant after for lunch if you desire. Please let Bryan or Trish Felt know if you plan to attend, so we can let the Brewery know how many to expect. Either email or call your RSVP’s before March 30, 2016 to:

Trader’s Village Swap Meet Debbie and I want to extend our appreciation to all the members that participated in the Swap Meet. It was a great event that was pulled off pretty smoothly to say the least. The fact that things went as well as they did is due to all the folks who volunteered and helped to setup, coordinate/manage, and tear down for the event. Debbie and I are both very impressed with the level of dedication and commitment from the numerous members who participated. We had a great turn out despite to threat of rain coupled with the wind and cold. So again, thanks a million to all of you that participated. Regards... Don & Debbie King Talked to Don King this morning and he told me that he had sent you and article about the Swap Meet. He did not have the numbers of spaces and wanted them incorporated into it. So, here they are. We sold 495 spaces this year and we have 167 already paid for 2017. All and all not a bad year with the weather. HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!! Carolyn
