OSPMICROCHECK.COM | [email protected] CASE STUDY OSPMICROCHECK.COM | [email protected] THE USE OF ATP HYGIENE TEST KITS IN A MEDICAL OFFICE BACKGROUND The owner of a chiropractor clinic engaged with OSP to understand the use of the LifeCheck ATP Hygiene Test Kit, and how it can support enhancing an existing workplace hygiene program. SCOPE An OSP technician conducted a 10-swab study on various surfaces throughout the clinic. No changes in the current program were made prior to the testing, and the swabbing was done at the end operating hours. FINDINGS Three sample sites showed relatively higher ATP readings than the other surfaces tested, indicating that they either are higher touch surfaces or that they were missed in the cleaning efforts. The headrest in Treating Room 3 was immediately cleaned after finding a high reading, leading to a decline in microbial levels which were now in line with other recently cleaned surfaces in the office. A control limit of 150pg of ATP per swab was suggested as a baseline control reading for the office. This is demonstrated in the Chart above. CLIENT INSIGHTS The clinic owner felt the study provided the data he needed to self audit and make required changes to his in-house hygiene program.
