Guest Speakers Lieutenant Colonel (Dr.) David M. Wallace, Chief, Primary Care Clinic, Fort Drum, NY Major (Dr.) Sonya Horwell, Emergency Medicine Physician and current Resident in Aerospace and Occupational Medicine, Fort Rucker, Alabama Dr. Wallace is originally from Rochester, NY, but has spent time in Brazil, Germany, Kosovo, Texas, Georgia, Maryland, Washington, and New York in his capacity as an Army Family Medicine Physician. He completed his undergraduate degree at Notre Dame through the Army ROTC program. He was then selected for and attended the Uniformed Serviced University of Health Sciences where he obtained his MD. He has served in numerous capacities such as: staff physician (including deployments), residency program director, chief of primary care, and battalion/division surgeon. He is board certified in Family Medicine and has completed the Army Flight Surgeon Course, Airborne (Parachutist) Course, Air Assault Course, and has received numerous awards and decorations for his military service. Dr. Horwell is originally from Henryetta, OK, but has spent time in Germany, Texas, and Afghanistan as both a Medical Service Corps Officer and an Army Emergency Medicine Physician. She completed her undergraduate work in Molecular Biology at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. She was then selected for the Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) and completed her MD at the University of Oklahoma. She has served in numerous capacities including Battalion Flight Surgeon, Emergency Medicine Staff Physician, and Company Executive Officer prior to obtaining her MD. She has completed the Expert Field Medical Badge, Army Flight Surgeon Course, and Airborne (Parachutist) Course. She is board certified in Emergency Medicine and was recently selected to participate in a second residency in Aerospace and Occupational Medicine! 6-8 PM on 3 December 2015 University of Notre Dame Room 101, Jordan Science Hall A light dinner will be provided!
