The University of Arizona Freshman Class Council Application 2015-2016 Freshman Class Council (FCC) is a program within the University of Arizona’s student government, The Associated Students of the University of Arizona (ASUA). Since 1913, ASUA has been committed to providing a voice for university students. Freshman Class Council seeks to further this mission by extending an opportunity for freshman to get involved. Freshman Class Council provides an outlet to the incoming Wildcats to make new friends, get involved on campus and learn more about The University of Arizona, specifically student government. This is an organization built on deep friendships that develop through constant interaction in philanthropy and service events, outreach opportunities, and University of Arizona spirit. Involvement on campus provides a sense of community and a home to many students, and FCC is an excellent venue for that involvement. Being a part of FCC opened so many doors for us during our first year of college. Congratulations on making the first step in enriching your UA experience. Location TBD Saturday, September 19th: Second mixer for those applicants that have been selected for interviews. This gives us a chance to get to know you a little more. Location TBD I. GPA (unweighted) ________ II. Activities Sheet Please submit a list of all high school activities, community service, work experience and honors/awards and include dates of involvement. Résumé style is encouraged. Limit this sheet to one page maximum. III. Cover Page This is the part of the application that you can express who you are, so get creative and design an 8.5” x 11” cover sheet for your application. Include elements of your favorite activities (Music? Sports? Art? Friends?) and parts of your personality (Spunky? Determined? Outgoing?) and let them loose on your cover page! Please make sure that your full name is written on the back. IV. Essays Limit each answer to 200 words (short and sweet in perfectly fine!). Please make sure to write your name on any additional pages you might include in your application.

Please answer the following two essay questions. (Hint: Be as creative as possible) 1. What do you expect to gain from the FCC, and how do you think you can contribute to the FCC as one of its members this year? 2. FCC has four main pillars: Spirit, Service, Friendship, and Outreach. Which of these pillars do you personally think is the most important, and why? Please answer 1 of the following 3 essay questions. (Hint: Be as creative as possible) 1. Being spirited and showing your passion for the University of Arizona is very important. Please write a short poem or story about why you chose the U of A. 2. If you had to be friends with an animal, what animal would you be friends with and why? 3. Which celebrity would you have a rap battle with and why? V. 3-D Object* Choose a three dimensional object to accompany your application, which must fit in a 10” x 13”

manila envelope and include an explanation (150 words maximum) of why you chose that object and how it describes you. Do not use liquids, food, perishable items, etc.

· Please note: No part of your application will be returned. Plan accordingly.

· Creativity is ENCOURAGED. Feel free to be as creative as you want on your

application by decorating each page! The more creative you are on your application the better we get to see your personality!

*Important* Please insert your application and your 3-D Object into one 10” x 13” manila envelope and put your full name on the front of the envelope. Be sure your application is submitted by 12 o’clock noon at the ASUA front desk on Friday, September 11th. Late applications will not be accepted!
