The heart of the South Pacific, Fiji is blessed with 333 tropical islands that are home to happiness. For the perfect holiday in paradise, there is no better destination so close to home for a picture perfect holiday.

ULTIMATE GUIDEfor Fiji

DenarauAttached to the mainland by a short causeway, Denarau is the place to be pampered. Less than 10km from Nadi, Denarau boasts eight large resorts, with a variety of international food options and an 18-hole championship golf course. Jump on the Bula Bus the only transport you’ll need around the island, explore the Big Bula Water Park for families plus the many day trips from Denarau to the surrounding islands. Luxury suites, sparkling swimming pools, shopping and adventure options – Denarau has it all.

Coral CoastAn 80km stretch of secluded bays along the southern shores of Viti Levu. You can’t miss the large coral reef just off the mainland, which provides endless opportunities for underwater exploration. Today, the Coral Coast is well known for its family-friendly resorts and hotels. The coast is also home to many local villages where you can get a glimpse of the real Fiji. The Coral Coast has great cultural experiences like the Sigatoka River Safari and Eco Trax is a fun activity for families.

Mamanuca IslandsNot only the closest group of islands to Nadi International Airport, the Mamanuca Islands are possibly the most picture-perfect. From family-friendly to adult-only resorts that range from value to luxury, you won’t go wrong as there is something for everyone. It’s a backdrop ideal for the screen, with the Mamanuca Islands featuring in the classic Tom Hanks film Cast Away and also on Survivor: Fiji.

Yasawa IslandsLying north east of Viti Levu, the Yasawas are a pristine string of islands that offer a less touristy experience than the highly developed resorts of the mainland. The laidback atmosphere and peaceful, porcelain-white beaches attract a lot of couples, but families are discovering the Yasawa Islands in increasing numbers too. With no roads or cars, plenty of space to roam, and water adventures galore, a Yasawa holiday is a chance for families to play castaway for a week.

TOP TIPS

Time ZoneFiji has a shorter daylight saving period over summer, so for a few weeks in spring and autumn there is an hours difference but other than that the time zone is the same.

The TemperatureFiji has two seasons: warm and even warmer. It’s a sunny, tropical climate. That doesn’t mean it never rains, but you can expect May to August, the cooler months, to range from 18° to 29°c. Then from December to April, the temperatures register from 22° to 32°c.

Getting Around Getting around Fiji is easy. There’s a good network of buses and ferries for travel within Fiji’s main islands, and taxis are common. Hiring a car is a good way to explore the two largest islands – or charter a boat or small plane to get between islands. Small ship cruising is a great option to explore the outer islands.
