Israel & turkeythe two Lands of the Bible Luke opens the Books of Acts in Acts 1:1 with the statement that in his gospel he told about the things Jesus began to do and teach during his earthly ministry. the Book of Acts describes the things Jesus continued to do and teach though his church. Many of those things took place through the hands of the Apostle Paul and his companions in the country now called turkey.

Paul himself was born in turkey. It was a primary focus for all three of his missionary journeys. Beautiful Ephesus is the strategic place where Paul spent the single longest period of his entire ministry. this was ended by the near riot that took place in the magnificent theater you can visit today. In troas, Paul received the vision that caused the gospel to be brought to Greece.

Later, through John, Jesus himself speaks words of both comfort and challenge to the Seven Churches on the west coast of turkey—from Ephesus in the south to majestic Pergamum to the north. John received his vision of the Apocalypse while a prisoner on the island of Patmos right off the coast.

After the holy Land itself, turkey and Greece are the most important places for teachers, pastors, students and spiritual pilgrims to visit. teaching and learning are brought alive by being in the place where it happened. For years after the tour itself is over, the memories of the places and landscape with breathe life into classes as well as personal study and devotions.
