Let us pray for the Church and for the world.

Deacon: Lord, in thy mercy

People: Hear our prayer.

The Confession (kneel)

Deacon: Let us humbly confess our sins unto Almighty God.

Minister and People: Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against thee in thought, word, and deed, by

what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved thee with our whole heart; we have not loved

our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of thy Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on

us and forgive us; that we may delight in thy will, and walk in thy ways, to the glory of thy Name. Amen.

The Absolution

Priest: Almighty God, our heavenly Father, who of his great mercy hath promised forgiveness of sins to all those who

with hearty repentance and true faith turn unto him, have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you from all your sins,

confirm and strengthen you in all goodness, and bring you to everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Peace

Celebrant: The peace of the Lord be always with you.

People; And with thy spirit. (You are invited to exchange the peace with your neighbors.)

The Greeting & Notices (Sit)

The Offertory

Anthem O Come, Let Us Sing Unto The Lord Anthony Piccolo

O come, let us sing unto the Lord; let us heartily rejoice in the strength of our salvation.

Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving; and shew ourselves glad in him with psalms.

For the Lord is a great God: and a great King above all gods. In his hand are all the corners of the earth;

and the strength of the hills is his also.

The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands prepared the dry land.

O come, let us worship and fall down; and kneel before the Lord our Maker.

For he is the Lord our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son; and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now,

and ever shall be; world without end. Amen

The Lord’s Prayer

Christ Our Passover

Prayer of Humble Access

We do not presume to come to this thy Table, O merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in thy manifold and

great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under thy Table. But thou art the same Lord whose

property is always to have mercy. Grant us therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of thy dear Son Jesus Christ, and to

drink his blood, that we may evermore dwell in him, and he in us. Amen.

Invitation to Communion

The Communion

Please come forward to receive the Sacrament when the ushers reach your pew. All baptized Christians are welcome to

receive the sacrament. Non-communicants are welcome to receive a blessing.

O Lamb of God (Sung by the choir) Darke

O Lamb of God, that takest away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us. O Lamb of God, that takest away the sins

of the world, have mercy upon us. O Lamb of God, that takest away the sins of the world, grant us thy peace.

Post-communion Prayer

Let us pray.

Almighty and everliving God, we most heartily thank thee for that thou dost feed us, in these holy mysteries, with the

spiritual food of the most precious Body and Blood of thy Son our Savior Jesus Christ; and dost assure us thereby of thy

favor and goodness towards us; and that we are very members incorporate in the mystical body of thy Son, the blessed

company of all faithful people; and are also heirs, through hope, of thy everlasting kingdom. And we humbly beseech

thee, O heavenly Father, so to assist us with thy grace, that we may continue in that holy fellowship, and do all such good

works as thou hast prepared for us to walk in; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with thee and the Holy Ghost, be

all honor and glory, world without end. Amen.

The Blessing

12:30 p.m. Midday Music: Gavin Black, organist; “Music of Frescobaldi and Storace” Suggested donation, $5.

Carpenter’s Kids: This parish has supported fifty AIDS orphans in Tanganyika for the past five years through the

diocesan organization, Carpenter’s Kids (a joint program between this diocese and the Diocese of Central Tanganyika).

The Social Action Committee has recommended we continue this support for a further five years. $70 dollars per child

per year enables them to purchase their uniforms and books so that they may attend school. We need to raise

$3,500 to fulfill our pledge to these children!

City Harvest: We are collecting food for City Harvest to distribute throughout New York City. A basket is provided at

the rear of the church. Foodstuffs needed: canned fruits or vegetables, canned soups, peanut butter in plastic containers,

pasta, boxed cereal, boxed macaroni and cheese. Please note: City Harvest cannot accept your donation if the product is

past its expiration date.

Candidates for Confirmation and Reception On Sunday, November 4th, Archbishop Carnley will be with us to preside and preach as well as to confirm and receive candidates.

Would any parishioners wishing to be confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church please speak to the rector immediately? There will be a class after the 11:00 a.m. Mass today and also next Sunday.

Own a Piece of the Little Church Around the Corner A select number of crosses were made from wood used in the original construction of The Church of the Transfiguration

dating back to 1860. Each cross of this kind is a unique 12” pine-wood cross, saved from the 2007 reconstruction of the

Guild Hall above the chapel. It is available only by making a $50 contribution to The Parish Historical Society.

It's a perfect gift for anyone who was married, baptized or confirmed at The Church of the Transfiguration. It also makes a

perfect Christmas gift. Available at the church bookstore.

Intercessions. Intercession lists can tend to become too long. People place names on the list but often do not inform us

when the need is past. In the future, names given to the clergy or to the office will be included on the regular list for two

Sundays unless otherwise clearly indicated. If a name has been removed that needs to be returned to the list, simply

inform the rector, or contact the parish office: [email protected]

Financial Support for

The Church of the Transfiguration

The Church of the Transfiguration is grateful for the continuing support of all its donors. Ways to give include:

Donations for specific capital campaigns Our current appeal is to raise $200,000 to pay for the restoration of our historic Lychgate at the entrance to the

church’s garden. Brochures are available at the back of the church describing the project and giving levels. A

thermometer on the external fence keeps track of our progress.

As of the end of August, we have received $105,525 —-so we are more than halfway to our goal! Work began on the

restoration on August 21st and we ask members of the congregation and our local community to please do what you can

to help us raise the remaining $96,000. If you have friends, family, or professional colleagues you can reach out to, will

you do so for your parish? We are grateful for the generosity of all of our donors to date and look forward to completing

this fund raising project and celebrating with you the newly restored Lychgate. Please let our Parish Administrator, Bill

Nave, or Rosemary Mackey know if you have ideas for individual or foundations that might be asked to give to this

project to help maintain the beauty of the Lychgate for future generations. You may speak to Rosemary or write to Bill

at [email protected].

Annual pledging A pledge of a portion of our income, whether small or great, is part of our Christian duty and a sign of our spiritual

commitment to God and his Church. Pledge brochures are always available from the Church office or on the table at the

back of the Church. E-pledging is also available.

Gifts to mark life’s special milestones Tribute donations to celebrate births, baptisms, birthdays, weddings and anniversaries may be directed to the Church

office.
