FOLLOW IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF CHRIST

The great fifty-day celebration of Easter has concluded,

as have the feasts honoring the Holy Trinity and the

Body and Blood of Christ. Last week we began a long

stretch of Ordinary Time that will bring us to late No-

vember. Saint Paul tells us today that those who are bap-

tized “have clothed yourselves with Christ” (Galatians

3:27). This scripture is echoed in the Church’s baptism

ritual when we sing, “You have put on Christ, in him you

have been baptized.” This message is inspiring and so-

bering at the same time, for in today’s Gospel, we get to

the heart of what it means to be clothed in Christ. The

Lord tells us, “If anyone wishes to come after me, he

must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow

me” (Luke 9:23). For the next twenty-two weeks we are

called to take up the cross and, with Saint Luke as our

guide, follow in the footsteps of Christ.

DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO MIGHT WANT To JOIN The Church or at least LEARN about what we believe and why we

do the things we do? RCIA (The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the process by which one becomes a Catholic or com-pletes Sacraments missed along the way

(Confirmation, Communion, Marriage blessings) or just learn more of “the Catholic Way of Being Church”. Ask yourself: Could God be inviting me? How do I sign up? Who can I tell or ask? Simply call Janie Banner at 364-

7626 OR the church office at 364-6150 to PRE-REGISTER - Bring your birth

certificate, baptismal certificate - if you have one—and any other marriage or divorce documents that are part of

your life journey.

LIVING FAITH - Daily Catholic Devotions booklets for July-August-September will be placed in the church entries in June for you to pick up at $2 request for each one. You may place money in collec-tion or come by the office to drop it off. Those who enjoy these inspi-ration booklets may also just come by the church office before June placement and pick yours up. The $2 covers booklet cost and shipping

and handling for this daily reading tool .... An excellent way to feed your spirit this summer! - Parish of St. Anthony

Lost and Found a baby book was found last week at the bell tower entrance with a prayer card, if either of these items belong to you, you may claim them at the church office during office hours.

Dear Saint Anthony’s, Thank you so much for the rosary and the book. I really appreciate you thinking of me.

Sincerely, Rhett Savoini (HHS Sr. 2016)

Thinking about Separation or Divorce? - Is your marriage or that of a relative or friend struggling or even heading for di-vorce? Do you know how to save that marriage? Or do you feel helpless? Retrouvaille is designed to help troubled marriages regain their health. It helps spouses uncover or re-awaken the love, trust, and commitment that originally brought them togeth-er. The program is highly successful in saving hurting marriag-es, even bringing reconciliation to couples who have already separated or divorced. For confidential information about or to register for the August program beginning with a weekend on August 19-21 call Paul and Patty Miguel at 806-420-1520 or email us at [email protected] or visit the website at www.HelpOurMarriage.com

James Dalton McNaney, the grandson of James and Julia McNaney of our parish, graduated Valedictorian of Pine Tree High School in Longview, TX. Congratulations and we wish you the very best in your future, God Bless!

Dear Parish Family, Tuesday June 28, 2016 at 7:00pm we have the opportunity to celebrate Mass at St. Mary’s Cathedral as a parish family. We will have the opportunity to walk through the Holy Door for the Jubilee Year of Mercy. This Mass will be the Vigil of Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul. Two men who though in life did not see eye to as recounted in the Gospels, in death are not separated. I hope that you will join me for this pilgrimage Mass at St. Mary’s. If you would like to go but need a ride or are willing to offer a ride please contact the parish office at 806.364.6150 or my-self by email at, [email protected]. In Christ I remain, Fr. Tonyn

PARISH COUNCIL ELECTIONS are the weekend of JUNE 25-26. ABSENTEE VOTING in the parish office is between JUNE 20—24 during office hours, 9-12 noon, 1-5pm except before 3 pm on Friday. Vote for 2 women and 2 men. VOTERS MUST BE 18 YEARS OLD and a REGISTERED MEMBER of the Parish.

My name is Melissa Sciumbato, and I am excited to be running for Parish Council! My family only moved to Hereford about a year and a half ago, but my husband, Shawn, was born and raised here. We immediately felt at home at St. Anthony’s, and I would like to do my part to help our parish continue to flourish. I grew up on a farm in Farwell and attended St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bovina. After grad-uating from Texas Tech University and Texas Tech University School of Law, I worked as an assistant district attorney in Lubbock. Shawn and I married while I was in law school, and we have been blessed with two amazing children, Gianna and Asher. They will both be St. Anthony Saints in the fall. Cur-rently, I am a stay-at-home mom and homemaker, and I spend most of my time chasing my kids. I look forward to serving our parish and would be honored to do so as part of St. Anthony’s Parish Council!

Gregory Joseph Reinart was born in Canyon, Texas on January 31, 1979. His parents are Dean Reinart, of Hereford, and Angeline Reinart, of Amarillo. Greg is the oldest of four boys born to Dean and Ange-line. Greg and his wife, Christy, were married in St. Anthony’s church October 10, 2015. Greg attend-ed St. Anthony’s Catholic School from K-5 through the sixth grade and went on to graduate from Here-ford High School in 1997. After graduating from high school Greg attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. Greg received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance in August 2001. Shortly after returning home to Hereford, Greg began working as the staff accountant for Hereford Re-gional Medical Center in March 2002. Greg served as the Chief Financial Officer for nine years and the Chief Executive Officer for over a year before accepting a position with Hereford Grain in early spring of 2016. Greg currently serves as president of the Kiwanis Club of Hereford and serves on the Leader-ship Hereford board of directors. Greg enjoys playing golf, trap shooting, general craftsmanship, and

spending time with family and friends. My Name is Amy Yosten, and I am 31. I have grown up in Hereford, TX and went to college at West Texas A&M University. I have now taught for 10 years in the public school system. Four of those have been in Hereford. I teach 4th grade at Aikman Elementary School. Also, I have two beautiful boys of my own, Brennan Joseph and Anson Thomas. I have been a member of this Catholic family for 2 years, and I can’t wait to grow in my faith and learn more about Catholicism.

My name is Billy Steffens, I am 48. I have been a member of St. Anthony’s Church for 20 years, I grew

up in Nazareth, TX. I am married to Raelene and have 2 children and 1 grandchild. I am also a Knights

of Columbus member and have served numerous times as an RCIA sponsor and it would be an honor to

serve further within the parish setting, on the Pastoral Council.

Kathy Brorman is married to Randy Brorman. They are both members of St Anthony’s Catholic Church along with their youngest daughters Emily and Blaire. They have two older daughters Kaeli Hales husband Reece Hales, Kesli Coffelt and husband Jared and three grandchildren Reagan, Kamryn Hales and Rylee Coffelt.
