Dear GI Friends & Colleagues,
Thank you for your continued support of this meeting. This is the 12th
Sheffield GI Symposium (under the auspices of the BSG). We are lucky
to have the usual amazing array of international and national speakers.
Sincerely, we hope that the talks are relevant and will influence your
practice. The programme provided covers some very novel areas that
are emerging, new therapies, endoscopy practice points and some
really difficult clinical problems. This year we bring you the new innovation of the Live Free
Webinar. There is no venue to go to for the meeting, you simply log in and sit in the comfort
of your home and watch!
CPD Accreditation is available (4 points)
Last year we had ~350 delegates on the day and your feedback/evaluation forms suggested
a >90% Good to Excellent rating. We really want to stress that this meeting is for everyone:
trainees; consultants; associate specialists; nurses from endoscopy, clinics, or GI ward
background; dietitians or even junior doctors who fancy a career in gastroenterology or
just an update - in fact, anyone with an interest in gastroenterology!
So please share this brochure with anyone in your department who you think may be interested. The Sheffield GI Symposium is entirely free.
Many of you have made this a regular slot in your CPD calendar and we are grateful to you
for your continued support.
Best wishes,
David S Sanders
Royal Hallamshire Hospital, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Our new Sheffield Gastro website
This year we are excited to launch our new website which will allow us to stream the symposium to a much wider audience!
Due to Covid-19 restrictions we are only able to invite faculty members and speakers to attend the
symposium in person, but you will be able to watch the live stream of the speakers and also participate in the conversation through an interaction platform running beside the streaming video. You can ask
questions, make (hopefully) intelligent comments on the content of the talks and interact with other
participants.
You can also join in on your mobile phone by following the link on the streaming page once it goes live.
The online chat will be available to everyone who has access to the live stream, all you need to do is
click on the “Ask” button, give yourself a username so you can be recognised, and you can start chatting
straight away - no need to set up an account!
Now we have created the sheffieldgastro.nhs.uk site, we intend to expand its function beyond the
meeting. You can already see our endoscopy section but in time there will be information about the
NHS England National Centre for Refractory Coeliac Disease which is based in Sheffield, and Dietetic
Patient Webinars which you or your patients may wish to access. We hope that you will see this website
as a useful resource.

or a Post CCT fellowship. We have had fellows
from across the UK and have strong links with
Greece, Malta and Italy. The crucial thing for us
is that you enjoy your experience.
