The Truth Inside ME

Chapter 1

First sight

Good job, Natsumi, I heard my coach praising me.

I did a magnificent lay-up and shot the ball right into the basket. While I was jumping, I could see

another basketball court where the boys were playing a basketball game. There, I saw him. He also

glanced at me. I thought I heard something. Wait, nobody is talking to me. We are all practicing and

thus, I was a new student. What had happened to me? I hadnt felt like this kind of thing in my life. I

started looking for his sparkling blue eyes. Unfortunately, I didnt get any more of his cute looks. He was

the hottest of all the guys who were playing. His looks matched his basket uniform which was blue and

white. He was cool, cute and I was running out of adjectives for him. He was also the captain of the

boys team and hes the best player I have ever seen. Nobody could catch up with him. After the match,

we were all resting in the back room. There, I saw most of the girls running toward him. The things that

they were doing were very disgusting. One girl was inviting him to a party; another girl was trying to gethis autograph, still another girl giving him a towel and so on. I wanted to know what had happened to all

of them. I turned to a girl who was sitting beside me.

I questioned, Who is he? Why are all the girls near him?

Then she replied with a laugh, Dont you know him? His name is Hikitsu Takaya. Hes the prince ofthe

school. Hes very good at sports, communication and studies too. Of course, a new student like you

wont know him.

Then, I heard the bell ringing. Its time to eat lunch. We all headed to the cafeteria including him. I

ordered my lunch and a refreshing juice. While I was about to take it to my table, I bumped intosomeone. Oh no! I was too late to balance my tray. My glass of juice spilt right on someone. When I was

about to apologize, I heard a voice,

Are you blind?

When I looked up, I saw him with a girl who was very angry with me. He showed his hand which meant

Never mind I was staring at both of them until they disappeared from my sight. OhHes a rose which

all the girls want!

Chapter 2

Guess the feeling of the girl towards the boy!

Bonk! I threw my bag on my bed. Then, I walked toward the mirror and took a good look at me. Oh my

god! What is this? It is a girl or a boy? I meant I looked like a girl since I have long hair but theres

something wrong with it. My hair looked like a birds nest. And look at my appearance. It looked nothing

more than a normal girl. I also looked tired. What was I also wearing? I was wearing a sports t-shirt and

trousers. Then, I remembered what the girls who were near him looked like. They were also on the

basketball team like me but after practice, they always wore miniskirt or a nice dress. They also took

good care of their hair and beauty. They were really beautiful and they were always near him. But he

seemed not to be interested in them. Maybe, he was proud of himself that hes very popular. Whatever

it was, I couldnt get him out of my mind. Am I interested in him? Oh, what was I thinking? It has not

very long since I moved to this school. So, its not possible for me to like him. But I must admit the truth.

I couldnt forget his eyes.

Chapter 3

Changes by love

Wow, you changed your style, Natsumi. And you look cute in that miniskirt, I heard my friend saying.

Thanks, I said.

I was partly happy and partly embarrassed. Then, I walked to the cafeteria where Hikitsu was supposed

to be.

Oh, I see him, I whispered to myself, And he looks as cool as ever.

While I was lost in my dreams, I suddenly felt hot. What happened? When I looked, I saw black liquid on

my blouse and skirt. Oh, its coffee! I heard one irritating voice,

Sorry.

She giggled and walked towards him. She even showed a peace sign. I realized that its revenge. And I

saw him looking at me. I could feel him thinking, What is wrong with that girl? I felt totally

embarrassed and ran out of the cafeteria. I felt like I lost something that was very important to me. My

pride I thought. I made a promise to myself that I would never ever wear the skirt and the girlish blouse

again.

Starting from that day, I put all my attentions into basketball. I tried so hard and practiced every minute

of my spare time. I didnt care about Hikitsu anymore. Even if I saw him, I forced myself to get him out of

my mind. After one month, there was a basketball intra-school tournament. My team won the first prize

and was allowed to play in the National League. One of my friends said that his team was also allowed to

play in that league but I didnt even care. I tried to forget his eyes and ignored the girls who were always

around him. My concentration was only on basketball and winning the National League.

Chapter 4

Unexpected Conversation

One day, I was practicing basketball in the playground. I was satisfied with my efforts and I felt very

happy. Only 3 weeks left to the National League. I must practice hard to help my team win. While I was

resting, I saw a pair of legs. When I looked up, I saw the face that I tried to forget. The owner of the legs

was Hikitsu.

Congrats, Natsumi. I never thought that you were the best player of the girls team. You have a talent

and your desire is strong. Hope u win! he said.

I nodded and said, Thanks. Good luck too.

When I was going home, I saw a bunch of girls who were always around him looking at me. When I

looked back, I found a spark of jealousy in their eyes. I looked at the other side and smiled.

Chapter 5

Staying true for love

National League day finally arrived. Many students were there. All of the basketball players and the

cheerleaders were very enthusiastic for their schools team to win. I, too, was also excited and nervous

but I tried to calm down. Game after game, we beat the other teams. Our boys team was also winning.

We had a break before our final match and I went and watched our school boys side. It was so

fortunate that I got to see their final. It was our school versus S.O.G. The other team had many good

players and they seemed to be stronger than our school.

Try harder, Hikitsu, I murmured to myself.

At that time, I found his blue eyes again. At first, we were winning but after a break, the S.O.Gs started

striking back. Only 2 minutes in for the game and the score was 88-86. We were losing. I couldnt stop

myself from shouting,

Go Hikitsu, You can do it!

He looked at me and I saw a smile that made me fly to the clouds. But they couldnt score any points.

The other team blocked them all. Oh my God, only 30 seconds left. Then, I saw the ball in Hikitsus

hands. He was dribbling from one end to the other and he shot a 3-pointer. The ball magically went right

into the basket. Everybody was cheering him. I went back to my competition.

Our game was about to start. We were also winning until the other team player hit my face with the

ball. I felt pain and hot in my nose. I rubbed my nose with my hand. Oh, blood! Then I couldnt hear

anything at all. I could barely open my eyes and emergency aids carried me out of the game and treated

me. We got a free throw but nobody could make any baskets. When I stopped bleeding, I heard my

team losing by the score 50 and 66. I went onto the court and I was back in the game. I couldnt play

very nicely but I tried my best. I also didnt underestimate the other team. They were very quick and they

all could shoot exactly into the basket.

60-70, I heardthe referee announcing the score.

I tried to put all my efforts and concentration in the game but I felt my nose bleeding again. This time, I

didnt care anymore. If I dont play well, my team will surely lose. I didnt want to go out of the game

again. I cleared my mind and concentrate on the game. There, I heard a voice shouting,

Come on, Natsumi. I know you are the best!

Without looking back, I knew that it was his voice. I felt like all of my strengths were coming back to me.

I ran with the speed of light and shot baskets with all my might.

80-84, I heard the referee announcing again.

Only 1 minute left. I tried to defend when they were shooting and made sure that only I had the ball.

Game is over. the referee announced.

I heard my school going wild. They also ran towards me and cheered. We won the game but the blood

was all over my face. Nevertheless, we had won the game! All I did was for my team and my school.

While I was thinking, I saw someone smiling at me. It was Hikitsu. He came and gave me a handkerchief.

Chapter 6

Happy ending

One month later, we were practicing basketball in our school for another competition. After the training

session, my friend told me,

The prince is waiting for you in front of the school. Girl, I am jealous of you. You are going out with the

most handsome guy in our school!
