The trumpet is a musical instrument brass. It is one of the oldest

The sound is produced by the vibration of the lips in the nozzle

from the air column and it is tuned in B flat. The trumpet is

constructed by a bent tube in a spiral of about 180 cm long and it

ends in a big pavilion. It have pistons that if you press them, they

extend the vibration of the air and produces diferents heights.

The pistons were introduced by Charles Clagget. The trumpet

also have mutes, that obtain specific sounds. The first two thirds

are almost cylindrical tube, which provides a strong, bright

sound, unlike what happens with the flugelhorn, which produces

a softer sound.

The tuning is usually seen affected by environmental

temperature, so it is necessary to warm the instrument before

playing by blowing through it.

The trompet has been used by many composers, especially in

jazz and in the music of the twentieth century. It was also used

to wake up the soldiers in the military camps.
