GREATER MCLEAN REPUBLICAN WOMEN’S CLUB “REPUBLICAN WOMEN MAKING A DIFFERENCE”
Editor: Laura Gilcrest, [email protected] March 2018
President: Virginia Norton, [email protected]
PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Since this is Virginia we have elections this year – every year! We
must work to elect our Republican candidates! There are two
candidates vying for the position of Fairfax County Republican
Committee Chair. You must be registered to be a delegate to the 10th
District convention. Then there are the six Republican candidates for
the Senate race opposing Tim Kaine. Our Representative Barbara
Comstock is also up for re-election with a slew of Democrats
challenging her. This year is also elections for VFRW officers to take
place at a convention May 4-5 in Richmond. This means there is a
convention to elect the FCRC chair, a primary in June and then the big
election in November. Volunteer! Work for the Republican candidates
and above all, VOTE!
And don’t forget March 15th is the Membership Reception (See the
flyer below). There is NO meeting in April. May 17th is the BIG
CELEBRATION of our 50th Anniversary where we’ll be celebrating our
past presidents! Check the calendar section for our schedule.
In addition to the changes in our meeting schedule, this year the
membership directory will be online. It will be password-protected as
it is for members only! It will be out this spring. Don’t forget the
website has a new address: GMRWC.net.

FEBRUARY MEETING
Our first meeting of the year was a success. The speaker, Dr. Ted
Chambers, husband of our member Gloria, was informative and
entertaining. JRs Stockyards had a good setup, great food and
service. If you weren’t there you missed a great meeting. Not only
that, we approved the budget for 2018.

Caring For America ,
The VFRW will hold a collection of canned goods at the convention on
May 4th. The goods will be donated to a food bank that serves central
Virginia.
I would like for McLean to donate at least two (if not three) bags of
cans for the project.
So I will have bags at the board meetings in March, April and May. In
addition, I will have bags at the March new members reception.
Please be generous ladies and bring a can of food with you when you
attend any GMRWC event between now and May 4th!

GMRWC EVENT REGISTRATION POLICY ADOPTED IN 2015 – PLEASE TAKE NOTE
GMRWC Event Reservation, Event Payment and Event Cancellation Policy:
GMRWC event headcounts for Club events and its venues are to be based on the number of reservations received by the Club Registrar at the close of business (6 p.m.) on the officially published RSVP deadline date for making a reservation for the event. Our event reservation deadline should be at least 3 business days before an event.
Any member or guest who cancels a reservation past the Club’s officially published RSVP deadline date is financially responsible to the Club for paying the published fee for the event since the Club is generally required to make full payment for the headcount commitment we make to our venues for headcounts given post the published RSVP date deadline. No refunds will be given to a member or guest when a member cancels post the Club’s published event RSVP date deadline. The only exception will be if the Executive Board has determined the member or guest failure to attend the event was the fault of our Club. In the rare event that this occurs, the Executive Board will ask the Treasurer to reimburse the member or guest for this event.
When a member or guest reserves and makes payment for a GMRWC event and then gives a cancellation notice to the Club Registrar prior to the Club’s officially published RSVP date deadline for the event, the member or guest will receive a full refund for the event from the Club Treasurer by the end of the month in which the event takes place.
