From the Pastor
I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. The one who plants and the one who waters have a common purpose...For we are God’s servants, working together; you are God’s field, God’s building. --1 Cor. 3: 6-9 In the midst of a cold winter's day I was visiting the home of one of our members. In her home were vegetable seeds planted in pots, under bright lights, ready to sprout and grow. She had provided the right conditions--now she must wait for the miracle of the sprouting and growing! St. Paul compares us as Christians in the Church to gardeners, planting and tending seeds in the field of his Church. We each have a different calling to help tend the seed of God's Word--planting, tending, watering, organizing, singing, and caring for the seed in every way we can. And we all have the same goal that the plant grow, and so we work cooperatively together. But ultimately it is not us who does it, but God himself who gives the growth. He is the one whose Word is living and active in our Church and in our lives. He is the one whose Word creates light, grants faith, forgives sin, and even raises the dead. This February come and do your part as we plant and tend and water
together, and watch God cause his Word to sprout up in your life and in the lives of others. Join us Sunday, February 5 as we welcome New Members by Affirmation of Baptism. Join us February 19 as we award Trinity Scholarships to our members pursuing higher education. And Join us Sunday, February 26 for the Transfiguration of our Lord, the last Sunday before Lent. Lent begins on March 1, with a solemn Ash Wednesday service at 7:30 p.m. Come to plant and water, and watch God give the growth! --Pastor Mills+

Operation Christmas Child And let us not grow weary of doing good for in due season we will reap if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9 I have sent in the profile and agreements for another year of being a relay station at Trinity. I decided to stay with the hours we had for last year with the exception of Tuesday which tends to be a no shoe box day but as we are required to be open every day I have cut the number of hours. The Dollar Store has some really cute items at the best prices ever. The children who receive our boxes are grateful for whatever treasures their boxes hold! As always the collection box is available in the Narthex for your donations. Also remember our two ongoing fund raisers. Greeting Cards with original poetry (available for sale in the Mission Mart) and dimes for kids (bottle available for your dimes during coffee hour). Yours for the children Barbara Mourer OCC Chairperson and Relay Coordinator

Are you looking for a new volunteer opportunity? Can you drive an elderly person to a doctor’s appointment? Offer a friendly visit with an elder? IVCG is looking for new volunteers to join our team and help the elderly among us continue to live independently in their own homes. Since 1984, Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers (IVC) has assisted seniors in the Greater New Haven area by fostering independent living and reducing isolation. We train volunteers from area faith communities and civic organizations to offer free neighborly services with compassion and love. To find out more, please contact Anne Cheney, Volunteer Recruitment & Training Coordinator, [email protected] -- 203-230-8994. Volunteer Orientation &Training At

As a volunteer, you can fill your hours (weekdays/evenings or weekends) by assisting in a clerical capacity or offering direct patient/family contact as a friendly visitor, provide pastoral care or bereavement services, help in arts, massage therapy, pet therapy, hairdresser/barber or provide transportation. For more information, please contact Joan Cullen at 203-315-7510 or [email protected].
